    Shawn,

the car is now completed. I will put up a link once I sort out photos. It's a lovely colour although my Blu Scuro Dino looks equally awesome in the flesh, probably my favourite colour. You may have seen the video link of that car in this thread, a few posts ago.

Is that Argento Auteuil Metallizzato 106-E-1? My next car will be that colour including having headlight covers fitted. It looks great!

It sure is... The car was ordered and delivered new with headlight lamps, it adds that extra beauty (in my opinion that is) Cheers!

My car was also ordered with headlight covers & I also agree that it looks better for it.

The Dino’s blue metallic changes hues, depending on the light. Under halogen lamps, it takes on a greenish tinge, evident even in this phone photo.

One color you might not have covered is McLaren Orange. 08062 was ordered by SoCal architect Craig Elwood in this color. Elwood told me he was a big fan of the McClaren CanAm cars of the 1970's, so he wanted his new Dino the same color. Car was also equipped with Daytona seat inserts, wide fender flares, and Campagnola wheels (so-called "chairs and flares"). Couldn't find a really good photo, so this will have to do for now.

What a brilliant thread. I haven't seen it before and the discussion of blues was very interesting as I thought my car was in Blu Dino Metallizzato (originally Azzuro Metallizzato), until I was informed that it was painted Blu Chiaro Metallizzato (presumably the later version) in 2000. However, sat next to a friend's 348 in that colour, it doesn't quite match!

Looking at the various pictures in this thread, it is very difficult to tell Blu Dino Metallizzato from the later version of Blu Chiaro Metallizzato - they seem pretty much identical. One day I'll have to put mine next to one in Blu Dino Metallizzato and compare.

Some of the modern formulations for the older colours are different John due to the change in legal requirements for the contents of the paint. On top of that some colours can have multiple shade variations - I recall seeing spray outs of around 20 shades of Nuovo Giallo Fly for example which I'm told is one of the hardest colours to match. The paintshop I used fortunately had access to an old paint colour formula database. They showed me the variation in colour compared to mixing the same code up using the newer system and it was quite noticeable.

Yes, that makes sense. Kevin has his records from the restoration, so hopefully he would be able to get a match if I ever need it.

Blu Dino Met was on my shortlist of two colours for my GTS John. The paintshop I used came up with a novel suggestion to help me make up my mind. Instead of spraying out a couple of the tiny normal spray out cards he used a Jajuar XF front bumper and sprayed half in Blu Dino Met and half in Nocciola.

Good idea. I hope they sprayed the rest of the Jaguar to match - it would look rather cool in that colour scheme!:D

I do like Dinos in Nocciola. I ran across this one in Maranello in 2018, staying at the same hotel as I was (mine lurking in the background). IIRC it was Monaco based.

And nocciola reminds me of one of my favourite ice creams!

I think the verde pino in post 2 has too much blue in it. Or it could be the color processing in the picture.

I think that all colours and samples are shown and listed in the excellent book "Dino Compendium" by Matthias Bartz.

I'm getting ready to paint a Dino in Verde Germoglio (20-G-465)and the spray out I received based on the formula from Glasurit looks a bit dark, my painter thinks it has too much black in it.
I have original paint samples off the car to compare and spoken to Matthias about it but wondering what experiences with this color other owners have had? (Iain?)

I realize the Glasurit paint is a different type to the original but I also think this color is a tough one to get right, pictures on the web vary wildly (as seen in this thread), lighting is a big factor and unfortunately my Dino color chip book doesn't have this one.
I may just lighten the formula up a bit to make it look more like "green bud".
    thanks, Andrew

The paintshop I used had an old DOS style version of a paint colour database on a pc Andrew. They had no issue mixing up the colour but unfortunately the owner closed down a couple of years ago now and retired and I don't have contact details for him. They painted my car in the original direct gloss method as opposed to the modern base with clear coat. The best advice I could give is that you have samples of the original paint it is worth getting your bodyshop or paint supplier to send it to a specialist paint laboratory to get an equivalent modern paint formula. I have done this with paint before and the bodyshop I use now sent a sample to Lechler's lab and they analysed it and came up with a match.

If it makes any difference Andrew, my car was painted with PPG paint. I checked through emails I have regarding the Lechler lab and they were used to do the analysis as they specialize in solid (non metallic) colours. Be wary of going by photo's of the colour. I could post quite a few photo's of my car where the colour looks different in every one.

Thanks Iain for the info, I’ll probably just work with my painter and the samples I have.
