    Mark,

I'm guessing the you mean the seal,,, which is installed first,, behind the drive gear.

I first installed the seal,, but not all the way,,, just enough to see the MT snap ring grove. ( grease the seal good with MO grease.)
Next I installed the snap ring, but not in the groove,,,, install it with snap ring plyers,,,,, 1/4" prior to it snapping into the groove.
Now, get a plastic piece of PVC pipe, over the shaft. (Mark it with tape so you know how deep it is,,,, when tapping...) Use it to slowly tap in the snap ring,,, which is used to push the seal in, the snap ring will now snap into the groove, this way, the snap ring prevents pushing the seal in too far. ( NOTE; if you push the seal in too far,, you must destroy it to remove it. Thus, always buy extra.)

Now, heat bearing to 250 deg,,, drive it home with a piece of mild steel pipe,, now another snap ring.
Finally, the drive pulley is installed. ( I use a Titanium washer under the "split nut." Superperformance has HEX nuts, to replace the split nuts.. I bought extra.)
The new bearing just torques against the last snap ring.

    Good luck,
    Eduardo

see tools for driving home an outer front cover bearing.

note the fat, 1/2” thick,, Aluminum Washer.
used to keep the force evenly distributed between the two bearing races.

    Edwardo,

Thanx Muchly, but no, I meant the drive gear (pullie).

How do you know it is on 'far enough/correctly' to be lined up with the cam belt pullies?

    Mmmmmmmmm,
    Good question...

The pullie is on,,,,, all the way when it is bottomed out on the Front Cover Bearing “Inner” Race.
Then the “split nut,” or new hex nut,, is torqued.
I did place a straight edge,, on the face of the one or both pullies,,, to see how they align with the Cam Drive Cogs.

    Bravo.
    Hope this helps.

Got me a new Mechanics Helper.......

Her photo is from sophomore high school Yearbook.
    1978 ( if I mention her age,,, I’m a dead Ferrari owner.)
We used to dance together in the Gym after football games.

I’m the worlds luckiest Ferrari Owner.
Now if I could just find a scanner wrench to remove the gas tank sender,, ,,, aaaaaaahhhhhhhhggggggg.

The decals are a genius idea. I'm about to add some extra gauges to my 308 and I will totally steal this idea. ;-)

Hey all! I’m the black coupe’s new caretaker. I’ve been off the forum a bit recently. New baby on the way and getting a new business off the ground. What’s up? [IMG] [IMG]
