Found a place that has in stock boot covers but only has them listed as 355. They responded saying they didn't know if they also fit 348 spider. Anyone know off hand if the they are the same? They come without tenex snaps installed so the snap location wouldn't matter, just the overall shape.

    Thanks

from Ricambi parts diagram looks like the 348 has the slit for the seat belts and the 355 one does not. The seat belts in the 355 spyder must come over your left shoulder like most cars and not from the center (right shoulder) like 348?

Yeah, the 355 seatbelt is mounted on the seat itself, comes up the back and over your left shoulder. I’m pretty sure the placement of the mounts that the cover clips onto are in much different positions on the 348 behind the seats. I don’t think the 355 cover would work well at all.

Thanks. Yeah due to the seat belt issue I'm not going to try it. The cover comes with the snaps uninstalled so you can fit them to your particular car. They all seem to be just a little different

If you find a decent source for the 348 Spider boot cover, I'd be interested. Mine was missing when I purchased it last year.

I'm going to have a local shop make one. At this point she can't do leather. She has some nice 4 way stretch material we will try. If it turns out well maybe we will look into doing leather and making a few. It will be a while though.

Any thoughts on why the 348 boot might be scarce? There seem to be several 355 aftermarket sources on Ebay. Obviously Ricambi is an option but OEM $ definetly too steep for me. Even used 348 ones don't seem to pop up the way 355 ones do.

Probably because there was only just over 1000 348 Spider made but nearly 4000 355 Spider.

348 toneau covers are made in 3 pieces. 355 toneau covers are made in 5 pieces. All of the reproductions I've seen on 348's appear to be using the 355 style with 5 pieces noting that the part inside the cabin is made to accept the 348 centre mount shoulder harnesses. These repros can in most cases be identified by 2 diagonal seams on the top part going from roughly the door jamb to the corner of the engine cover. While these will work just fine they are not OE and will be noted as incorrect by concours judges.

I always thought the total number of spiders was 1090. That’s what most sources say, Am I missing some?
