Did you have a chance to talk to Arthur Bechtel and to Jurgen Berg whose cars have been also stolen in the same region of Germany? I am not a professional investigator but I find this too much of a coincidence.

exactly... without out a buyer there cannot be a sale, so what is the motivation for a theft, if a profit is not possible... someone in the Ferrari community must know where this car is and who has it... this is not the first occurance... there are several posts on this forum about "disappearing Ferrari" and purchases with bogus documents

I know Jürgen Berg well, he was one of the first who comforted me at the day, my beloved 2281GT was stolen when we met at a BBQ that day. When his Vignale Spyder was stolen, we exchanged all information about the facts and have forwarded all the data to interpol. I don't know Arthur Bechtel. What was his story ?

Sorry, no I don't know Bechtel but I read the story and saw pictures of the car stolen around the Ring. May be you can contact Andreas, my friend Abi whom I am sure you may know , who knows a lot of people and dealers in the Ferrari community. Since my Pagoda has been stolen in front of Techno Classica more than 10 years ago I have a very strong desire to crack those gangs and set up a process that can indefinitely track stolen cars. Because with time passing people assume that you may have recovered the car, and then become less attentive to former stolen cars.

I see a few silver or grey 250 GTEs listed for sale in Europe from time to time, although I have not seen one with your precise colors. Of course the dealers never list the chassis number. I'm wondering if you monitor the listings and perhaps call and ask for chassis numbers? If you are interested there are a couple listed now on www.classicdriver.com - one with the correct exterior color but with a black interior.

With all the document altering techniques, etc. available now it wouldn't surprise me if the car is not only hiding in plain sight, but could be sold in plain sight through normal channels as well.

    best regards

    Thank you, but ...

Trust me, I am deep in the market of any GTE offered worldwide to get her back.
There are many specials about her (that I will not tell everyone), that would help me to identify her - even parted out.
She was the 32nd GTE ever produced, a very early Series I Car, so the S III Cars offered from time to time are not the primary target.

But - again - Thank you for any efforts to take eyes and ears open.

    Best

    Markus

Thank you for that link !

No, it's not my beloved 2281GT, but a Series 1 car.

Please keep your eyes open !

it's a long hard road to recovery, even if one can identify who may be the custodian, one needs to look at the saga of 330 LMB 4619 going on nearly for 40 years... where custodians can be identified, true owner clearly identified by the courts and various authorities, court orders to pick the car up on sight, yet those controlling the car manage to conceal the car, thumb their noses at the laws and escape enforcement, those with knowledge refuse to assist the authorities in recovery, in favor personal gain while not alienating the Ferrari collector elite which they mingle with...

Markus, it seems that every 12 months or so I have another thought about your car - probably useless, but here is the latest one. Is it possible to check the flight manifests for cargo flights leaving aiports near the Nurburgring for the period in question? I suppose this would be Frankfurt, Cologne, Dusseldorf, Hahn, Luxembourg. Similarly, how about cargo manifests for vessels disembarking the nearest ports. Just a thought.....

    Regards

Thank you very much for remembering her !

Interpol has checked the cargo lists at that time for months - without any match.

33 months now - I hope it will NOT take 33 years. :(

    Hello Markus

I came across this auction listing which looked a little unusual to me. You're probably aware of it and it's probably nothing. No indication of chassis number that I could find.

That car has been on the market for years already.
No relation to a stolen GTE.
