Agreed; shame to be selling a car like that with everything that's going on in the world right now. Good luck to them though.

So you have an early 612 with the appearance of an FF without the advanced mechanicals and they think they are going to get $160K to $270K for it? Good luck. If they do then I am going to bolt an old MGB rear hatch onto my 07 612. Should be able to get at least $300K on BAT for it!

Hate to admit it, but I love it. That being said, I'm also anxiously awaiting the RS6 Avant so I have an affinity for shooting brakes/wagons.

It reminds me of an Aston Virage shooting brake with much more character than an FF.
FF’s are like a washing machine while the 612 is like a mechanical watch.

I agree MRY. I don't even think of this 612 and FF at the same time. There's no association. This 612 has an elegance IMO that the FF doesn't possess. And on the stock 612, I've never been really content with the area around the tail lights. So this resolves that rather nicely.

    That's it !

I think that was penned by Michael van den Brink. And his then partner Peter Koumans. And I may have mis spelled his name. I thought his name was actually something like Michael Mobile or something like that. And that van den Brink was a pen name.

There was at least one other effort. A devastatingly beautiful GTO, that was to be based on the 599. Michael left the company he created. And did not receive any consideration on the car being discussed here. Nor did anyone else I think.

Michael left the practice. Which, after seeing two of his ideas/works, is a loss to us all.

With all due respect, it's horrendous.

Forget about the "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" thing. Beauty, proportion and overall aesthetics have been codified for millennia in canons that are recognizable by all without even speaking a word. It's only in the past few decades that everyone felt entitled to declare what's beautiful and what isn't on an individual basis. That may at unison with the 20th- and 21st-century mad run on individualization but this design goes counter to any instinctive/intuitive perception of aesthetics.

Really happy we have an arbiter for perfect taste. Personally, on an individual basis, I like it and consider it far, far from horrendous.

The term is actually "shooting brake". Refers to a horse-drawn wagon. Google for more detail.

The Aston Martin DB5 Shooting Brake is the most famous of the lot.

"The shooting brake, which began in England in the 1890s, was a wagon (more specifically a type of wagonette) designed to transport hunting spoils, gun racks and ammunition on shooting trips"

I like the 612 shooting brake.

the one I saw was in Grigio Silverstone with challenge wheels and it was perfect.
