Yeah, lube the threads well My advice is to take your time and figure the best anges to get both spring compressors to have a decent grab on the springs. Work them in and around the a-arms. You really should not need to compress them a long way, just enough to take some pressure off and move the rings. Lowering seems to be the easy direction.
Eric do you have a link of where you're getting it from? Looks different from the ones on Amazon Please and thanks
Lowered on stock suspension...I have scraped the front skid pads on some sharp switch backs in the mountains but wouldn't change a thing since the stance is perfect. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my Pixel 3a XL using Tapatalk
Don’t understand why you would lower the car and make it handle worse. Get the correct springs please.
These are the factory springs in most cases, and the suspension is already adjustable from the factory. Does not mean the car handles incorrectly if you adjust the suspension as provided by the factory.
I would agree w the prior tech post above... lowering on stock springs by reducing preload adversely affects handling. correct method new springs.... I would do it this way on a perf car All my opinion. it’s worth what you pay for
Agreed 100%... When you try and go outside the bounds of what the manufacturer provides, things are not optimum. I see some cars really lowered past what I'd consider reasonable. Other suspension parts also reach outside their intended limits of performance or even adjustment even when changing springs. Now that we are talking about cars that are a minimum of 11 years old, we also must consider that stock pats may no longer be in spec for the intended use or adjustment.
Lots of conflicting views over the years on here as to how well this works, but I thought it was generally accepted that the stock 430 springs/US ride heights were compromised (as in too soft and too high) and that the only way to address the issue properly was fitting Novitec or H&R springs. As H&R springs generally seem to get a bad rap in Europe (for being too harsh and too crashy) the Novitec springs, whilst expensive, were generally considered the go to option ? The idea of dropping 30-35 mm whilst utilising the standard, soft springs, sounds like a recipe for damage to the damper internals in the long term (or running on the damper's internal bumpstops) with the possibility the springs could becoming unseated over a fast crest in the road. The latter would of course be fixable by fitting some light poundage helper springs such as these : https://eibach.com/us/c-113-products-motorsport-springs-accessories-helper-and-tender-springs.html but they're not cheap, so far better to put the money towards a set of Novitec springs and do the job right in the first place IMO.
H&R springs list as only fitting the 2000-2005 360. Any known issues with them on the 1999? I have an appointment to lower my car about an inch next week on the factory coilovers (as recommended unprompted by my master tech, actually, when he saw my wheel gap with the 360 challenge wheels) but for the price (about $400) was thinking of upgrading to the H&R springs if I'm going to do it...
turns out I will not be lowering my car today on the factory coils. rear shock blown, which probably means all shocks need to be replaced... which leads me immediately to start evaluating aftermarket coilover kits as a more cost effective solution but obviously giving up the electronic dampening.
I decided to have the shop do mine this week. They weren't able to get the collars to budge on the car, so they're going to remove them and adjust them. They lubed them up the day before and compressed them, but didn't feel comfortable forcing them.
Tackleberry great post, any pics of your car on Scud springs please ? what else have you done besides suspension, airboxes and Ferrari Oem Sport exhaust ?
Thank you Richard. Only Fabspeed Headers, which were fitted at the same time as the Exhaust. A selection of pics for you........ Lowered on stock springs at the track.... https://www.gotbluemilk.com/2019/May-2019/190531HOD/8/i-pHQRg5N/A
I would therefore guess that US cars have different springs than European cars ? can anyone confirm this. I had my Ferrari dealer lower mine when it was new and realign, my F430 is actually a little lower than my SCUD, I just have to drive slowly over speed humps
