OMG do NOT touch this button. It was a special feature on only a few cars. It fires a gas cylinder and the passenger seat immediately ejects. For this reason, it could only be ordered in conjunction with the sunroof. It was designed to be used in cases of emergency or extreme frustration (passenger complains about your driving style / speed, passenger discusses boring TV show you have no interest in, mother in law in the seat etc).

It is part of fuel inertia switch.
If there is a collision the fuel pump cuts off.
That button reactivates the fuel pump.
See page 58 of user manual.

What will happen if you just press it, just for the heck of it? Doing that will not turn off the fuel pump, right?

No, but when I pressed it the wheels fell off. Luckily the car was still on warranty. The button has been removed for good since then.
