Could go back to all those places in a second! Miss that time and that era. I should not be living the past, but my soul longs for those days and times. Thanks for sharing! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
When the last Crystal's shut down, Ashley and I went and bought some of the interior decorations. I had never been, but it was a big player in her childhood.
Black Eyed Pea had good food and even expanded nationally into Virginia. Leverage was probably their downfall. Also enjoyed Steak and Ale for MG club meetings. When did Baby Doe's go away? It was a landmark getting off the tollway. Surprised nobody could make a go of it. I also remember Prestonwood Mall when it first opened up about 1979. Another wonder of the world and famous for that clock. Also understand that Valley View mall is also history.
That is crazy, I lived just up the street from it, spent a lot of time there too. Good friend of mine Jeff Wheeler was the DJ... crazy our paths didn't cross sooner I missed that auction , last auction I grabbed the hostess stand from the Downtown Spaghetti Warehouse.. lol , couldn't figure out where to put the trolley car... wish I caught the Crystals one though. Baby Does closed back in 2006, I think.. spent a lot of time there as well! Between the Beer Cheese Soup ( rivaled only by The Driskol’s cheese soup ) and the lounge downstairs , lots of memories there ! Valley View was finally leveled over the last year , making room for new multi-use development.... Talking about memories... Who remembers when the tollway ended at 635 ??? Steve
Yep, and I remember a Mercedes Dealer (Autohaus) and an Oldsmobile Dealer who apparently had to move aside for that.
I do. I remember when 635 ended at I-35. I used to play soccer where Collin Creek Mall is. So many good memories in Dallas.
I spent some time working in Valley View Mall 30 years ago, I remember that Sanger Harris well. A guy that worked at our sister store in Town East Mall got arrested for shooting his BB gun across the big open area in the center at stores across the way. All before it was filled in of course. Remember the Old San Francisco Steakhouse with the big swing above the diners? I always wondered how they got the girl on the swing. Who doesn't remember driving by the Mrs. Bairds bakery on 75 and enjoying the smell?
Ate there when I was in town for a conference back when I lived in Memphis. Coerced a colleague into eating the bull "fries" (may have been lamb "fries"). Must have been early/mid 90s! T
