Ed s/n 13951 is a European version delivered new to Italy. Plexiglass production continued through s/n 141xx or thereabouts. Marcel will know.

14115 LHD I think that came to the USA for racing but of course there was a story or two involved with that escapade...
14117 and 14119 were plexi RHD versions.

    A minor correction regarding 14115.

It was NOT shipped directly to Sebring. It was shipped on 21 June 1971 from Italy (Savona) on board the S/S Torinita as part of a shipment of four Ferraris, S/N 14159, 14237, 14243 and 14115. The ship arrived at Port Newark, NJ/USA on 01 Jul 1971 and the cars were then delivered to Luigi Chinetti Motors

This was, of course, long after the 1971 Sebring race and I do not believe it was ever intended to actually be seriously raced. I believe that this was just a subterfuge to get a European spec car into the country.

S/N 14115 was the cheapest car in the shipment, Chinetti paying $11,814.00. For the other three cars Chinetti paid $12,794.00

14121 RHD but the headlights treatment is questioned.

    14123 USA and 14125 were pop-up headlights.

If the car has been in the same family ownership for 40 years (as is implied in the ad) then $499k probably represents a handsome return on the car without being greedy for every last dollar. Only if the car had been brought in the last 5-7 years would that represent a downside.

I remember in 1999 I offered $110k for a decently nice example and he said it was mine for $120k. I walked away! Stupid me.

Lusso's and 250 PF Cab II's were in that price range too until 2002-3 or so.

My Father paid £7,500 for what is now my Daytona in 1976. That equates to about £48,000 in today's money or the same as a very basic spec Porsche Boxster. Mind you in 1987 it had an agreed insurance value of £400,000 which equates to just over £1.1m in today's money. I'm not aware of any standard Daytona making £1.1m in the recent boom?

I've always wanted a Lusso. When I bought my 365GT in 1993, Lussos were about 3x what I paid for my car. I figured some day, I'll sell my 365GT and pay up a bit and get a Lusso... there's plenty of time. As you point out, even into 2001-02... now, no way. Even though Lusso's have come down a bit.
