That is not what I hear from the factory. It sounds like the VS is a proper limited car (and there might be an open version too)

They are already doing it with the loosening of the requirements on the GTS.

Just wondering if you heard anything from the factory on the type of engine the VS would have? NA assisted ? Turbo/hybrid? Displacement 6.5L or smaller? GPF / no GPF?

You know from being on this board for as long as you have that before the switchover to public the factory promised the last of the F12 platform (now 812) to be a very special car. This came out as a response to the cry for a limited open top (ala 599 Aperta). There were complications with the F60 owners being slighted. So no LE open top yet and we are still with the same platform and no current 812VS and the GTS doesn't fit the role (maybe even a step back with GPF and GT styling).

The video posted shows some kind of NA compressor perhaps and those that are typically in the know are putting out it is coming and numbered. Anything can change especially with Chinese virus but that was the expectation. We'll see but it seems it will be delayed to figure it all out.

Open top almost a guarantee because of the GTS

Chatting to some of the people in the coach to the factory for the GTS launch, it really made me wonder whether there were any criteria. Some had never owned a V12. I got the impression it wasn’t particularly exclusive.

Icona seems more like a series of cars rather than the last of the production flagship mid-front but technically that could be it. If so would have preferred an NA 10k rpm track oriented VS. Something with a windshield perhaps. :)

    I don't believe they produced 1500 to 2000 spiders, more like 800 to 1000

The mark of 1000 Pista Spider is (almost) reached, so higher than 800.

My numbers are based on what we have achieved through Fmembers comments about dealer worldwide allocations , if you have the exact numbers from the factory ok .... but I don’t think so!

When I asked early this year if the 812VS is pure NA, the answer from ppg70 was yes.

Back to this question again, does any friend who familiar with Ferrari insiders can confirm that 812VS engine is still NA? Thank you.

I couldn't understand a word he said but I like the room he was in (hotel?) and your summary. Doesn't explain the weird sounds in the video though. Can't argue with a 10k rpm NA V12 Ferrari especially if the body design not in the direction of 812 or SF90. A 90 degree V12 takes up a bunch of room so it must be smaller displacement to fit in the same F12/812 chassis. There's no room in there. I also don't see anything in that patent that would avoid the use of GPF.

A horizontally opposed 12 cylinder engine of 5 L also took up a lot of space and those pesky Germans continually fit a horizontally opposed 6 cylinder (just as wide albeit shorter) in the back of a smaller car......the beauty is that placing the engine behind the front axle gives you a little breathing room.....

    It's all relative........

A smaller displacement n/a not sure how that will help increase the power from the 812 at 800hp currently. Unless they add some of assistance either hybrid / eturbo...

this patent was based on work from years earlier to help reduce particulate emissions in an attempt to avoid using a GPF, since most particulate emissions occur during cold start

obviously this did not work out, we know this because Ferrari V12s are being fitted with GPF

this patent it "not news" at all...sorry
