At the beginning of this year, if you would have told me that we would see a global pandemic and that I would acquire both a Ford GT and Dodge Viper ACR in the middle of it, I would have said you were crazy. Interestingly enough, that is exactly what happened. In the beginning of March, during my GT acquisition from BJ’s Motors, several Viper’s caught my eye on their website. One in particular was so stunning, that I could not get it out of my mind, despite my best efforts to do so.

After I took delivery of the GT, I immediately rekindled my love affair with analog cars, especially hand shakers. The Viper ACR represents peak American nasty, brutish, “end of an era”, supercar. Previously, the Viper had never really appealed to me. If I can be honest for a moment, I thought the car was simply too bombastic and maybe even bordered on cheesy. Not sure what caused my change of heart, but I fell into mad infatuation in the last couple months.

Excited to say that I purchased the very same car that caught my attention at the beginning. Like all my cars, I intend to drive it, and keep it in my permanent collection.

As was the case with the GT, I acquired the Viper through BJ Motors. You might recall, that days after I bought the GT, BJ’s owner, Bernie Katz, died suddenly (non-COVID). I was shaken by that, as I had a really awesome experience with him and intended to buy from him in the future. I was probably his very last car deal. Fast forward to the Viper, his wife of 30 years, Graciela Katz assisted me. She is a sweet, hard working, customer service oriented lady. She did a terrific job on my transaction. The terms were more than fair, and the service was exceptional. Buy with confidence from BJ Motors.

Once more, I used my local professional technician to inspect the vehicle. I had no concerns, as the car only has 18 miles, but it still makes sense to perform a basic inspection, especially since I was not traveling to see the car firsthand. Mark is tremendous.

As usual, my favorite transporter was assigned to retrieve the car. Rashad is driving through the night, on a holiday weekend, so that I can have the car today. He is top notch and gives me total confidence.

Here’s the link to the car and couple transport pics. I will follow up with a proper review at a later date.

I sure hope they do too. It seems like they intend to do so. It’s a tough time for everyone right now, even more so for them.

Wow! Super small world. I am pumped. I saw on the CarFax that the car serviced in Austin. The car is super pristine by all accounts, but I plan on transitioning it from collectible car to driver’s car as soon as the PPF is done...

RIP Bernie is right. Seemed like such a good dude, and so young too. In a odd twist, it was a motivator for me moving forward on the Viper. Why put off to tomorrow what can do done today....?

At Gen V twilight, there were several "special edition" Vipers. The ACR/TA (which you now own :) ) was one such version, created specially for WoodHouse.

    There were only 10 made.

Congrats!! The Gen V Viper is one AWESOME machine, by just about ANY measure that car guys care about :) Treat her well, and you will be well rewarded ...

Congrats, the ACR-E is a very special car. I put 8.5k miles on mine in 3 years of ownership, before selling last fall.

Just found out from my guy at film shop that he won’t her done until June 8th. I would rather the job be perfect than fast, but I still can’t help feeling a little disappointed. That’s going to be a long wait. Worse yet, I still haven’t seen the car yet, nor have I ever sat in one before. I sure hope my big butt fits.

Please feel free to check with Todd Cooperider and the gang at Esoteric, for the exact detailing, polishing and paint protection products that have already been applied to your new baby:

    https://www.esotericdetail.com/

They may also have some very specific recommendations on the type of film, as well as any pre-film prep work that may need to be done.

Thanks for the suggestion. Those guys do incredible work. I have watched many of their videos over the years. My local guy does an outstanding job also. He did my Performante in Dec 2017, and my Ford GT in Mar 2020. I trust his skill set. I’m just stuck playing the waiting game again, just as before.

The seat lowering kit is a must IMO.

You are probably right. I have yet to even sit in one though. In fact, I have not even seen my new car yet. I’m 6’6” 255lbs, so I am not expecting to be comfortable in the car, but I am hoping to at least fit.

With the seat lowered I think you’ll be fine. I had quite a bit of headroom at 6’2” 210. Without it, it felt like I was looking through the headliner, super annoying.

My understanding is that all those lowering kits fix the seat position making it unable to slide forward or backward. Is that true? With a lumbar disk issue, I frequently change the seat position both fore and aft, along with the rake, in order to relieve back pressure.

That is correct, mine was fixed aft. It can still be raised and lowered with the lever, and rake is still adjustable to a degree. Don’t know if there’s another lowering option, but if there is I’ve never seen it.

I tend to like to sit as low as possible in cars, so maybe stock will be satisfactory to you.

Quick update. Finally have the car sitting comfortably in my garage. It was getting PPF’d for a long time, then I had it serviced along with having several items installed (a quick connection for a battery tender, stone/mud guards, the extreme aero front splitter, and some all black struts for the splitter). Sadly, the engine break in is not just excessive, but mandatory as well, so it might be some time before I can give it a proper romp. My first 50 miles were exhilarating, but just a tease of more excitement to come. I’ll report back with better pictures and a more extensive review at a later date. Here’s a couple pictures next to its American stable mate:
