The usual, I’m posting to share knowledge and experience and hopefully help others. I’m not here to argue or debate with anyone as I have better things to do. So if this information has helped you, a simple thanks goes a long way. If you disagree or don’t like my approach its OK, its my car. You too can do what you like with yours. Thanks for your understanding. Now that we have that out of the way………………. · My front brakes are due for replacement at 36K miles. · Dealer quoted me $2K to do the front brakes parts and labor (new pads & rotors). · I purchased OEM Brembo rotors and Stop Tech Sport pads for the front for less than $500.00. · Brakes are super easy to do. Took me 1.5 hours to do the front left, half hour to do the right front. · Done: I saved $1.5K, plus pride in workmanship. Now I can take my wife out to a nice dinner Details on attached pdf document. Hope this helps some of you. Looks great Dan, nice job! Am I correct the aftermarket Brembo rotors do not come with painted "hats" or hubs like oem Brembo rotors, so you painted them to prevent rusting? Sounds like a minor trade off for the tremendous savings.
let us know how you like the StopTech sport pads. I'm in need of new front pads soon and have debated to go to these or stick with OEM brembo because of the potential for squeal.
Thanks my friend. Yes you are correct. The Brembo OEM rotors does not come with the hub pre-painted so I had to paint it myself. Like you said, a very minor inconvenience for a fraction of the OE rotor cost. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
I drove for 6 hours yesterday and I noticed no difference compared to OE. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
StopTech Sport Pads: No noise, no brake squeal, no warm up required for it to grab. Very similar to OE performance for a fraction of the cost. Dan Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
I want to add that I chose the "no brake pad wear sensor" type pad. So I removed the brake pad sensor and just tied it back away from the rotor. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

Great write up! I have just shy of 32k miles on mine and it is needing new rotors front and rear. I have been planning to do the exact same thing you did.
Thanks everyone for the appreciation. I had a request to add the part numbers & cost of the parts I used so here it is: Note that I have no affiliation to them. Part numbers & cost of parts used: Brembo Rotors: 182606. Same part number for front and rear. You will need 4 each. About $100 each shipped from Superformance UK. Fast shipping. I got mine in 3 business days. Brake Disc / Rotor Centering Screw: 104370. Need 4 each. Plus get 4 washers. $5.00 each. Same as above. Brake Pads - StopTech Sport Pads 309 Series: 63-309-1053. Same part number for front & rear. I ordered mine from Zeckhausen Racing website. $82.00 a pair. You will need 2 sets. It comes complete with all hardware (pins, anti rattle bracket) StopTech Stainless Steel Lines: 950.03501. Comes in pairs. You will need 2 pairs = $50.00 a pair. ATE Type 200 Brake Fluid = Amazon. I bought 4 liters as its cheaper if you buy 4 cans. Hope that helps. Dan
Thank you for the helpful write up Dan!! May I ask what paint you used - and how you applied - to the rotors? Matt
Hi Matt, Thanks for the appreciation. I understand Zinc paint works better but I just simply used a high temp caliper paint. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B006ZLRBBO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Great question on application. First, using brake cleaner spray thorougly clean the entire brake rotor front and back. Then I used the cardboard box that came with the rotors, measured the size of the hub that I want painted, marked the center of the box by drawing diagonal line on each opposite corner to get the center, and using a compass I marked a circle, then cut a hole in the center of the cardboard same size as the rotor surface I want painted. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07D8JWYH2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I then used the cardboard opening to paint the front and rear rotor hub. I wished I took a video but I found a similar approach in YouTube. Here you go. Hope that helps. Dan
great writeup. I did almost the same thing (same rotors). Stoptech OEM is a great street pad, little dusty but no biggie. but definitely don't take it to track. I wouldn't recommend ATE200 for any type of track use. They are borderling ok in a 2,300LB 125whp Spec Miata, not on a 500hp car. at minimum, something like Motul 600/660, best is Castrol SRF, it is expensive, but it has the highest wet boiling point. which means you can go farther between fluid flushes.
If you drive it in the wet. Anyway, spray paint takes may be a minute per rotor. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
