Love bugs

Man, that brings back memories - not necessarily the best ones - of riding my moped as a UF student many, many moons ago.
I forget how many of those I must have inadvertently eaten while riding my moped to/from campus. You learn quickly to keep your mouth closed!

Yeah, the car requires a lot of care twice per year in love bug season.

 

Man they are nasty if you let them dry on the car too, redefines putting elbow work into cleaning your ride

 

Back in the 80's we used to spray our front ends with Pam

 

Best bet is to track the populations of them through a university epidemiolo.... I mean entomology department. Wait until there have been no new bugs for at least 14 days, then it is safe to slowly start to venture out onto the roadways again for certain classes of people and cars.

 

Several years ago I ran at Sebring with love bugs - it was so bad that I had to get the car redone with whatever was the best then - probably 3 M - It was hopeless getting the hood clean

I am just trying to keep the windshield clean enough to see through.

 

They are really bad this week in Tampa. I figured with less cars on the road they wouldn’t be as bad but my daily drive is covered with them. The Pista is staying in the garage until they are gone.

You should clean them quickly. As they will damage your clear coat.

 

Yes to the clear coat damage. Love bugs will etch the surface if left on too long and yes to using Pam. Hot water works well to loosen them off the paint or PPF.

Just drove from Palm Beach to Orlando, it was horrible, thank God I was in the M5.

they seem to be tapering off in North Port... Earlier in the week was crazy

 

To remove spray bugs on a cool car with Griots Bug and Smudge removal . After 5 min. wash the car/windshield with your favorite Neutral car shampoo. They then come off very easily.

 

By May 17th, they were gone north of Orlando.
