Can anyone advise where to get the exact satin orange paint for these 1979 shocks? I was told it is the same as Chevrolet Orange but that is a gloss finish.
Bring the shocks to a paint shop and get them to mixed a can of paint for your shocks. I would say the shocks should be appearing semi gloss. Nope, they are covered with tape. I always install the new bushings prior painting to avoid scratching the paint during installation of the tight bushes. Best, Peter
Yes, I have converted a plumping nipple into a support sleeve that fits the angled edge on the shock bush housing. I then press the bushing in using a hydraulic press and a standard socket from my tool set. It's very important that you have a stabil and fully aligned support of the bush housing when you press in the bush. As Newman states, you can buy the Hill Engineering tool for that purpose if you have time & money. http://www.superformance.co.uk/flat12/suspension_512bb.html Image Unavailable, Please Login Best, Peter
Good day Carey, If you have not found it, here is a thread that chatted about the shock color https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/series-1-400i-shock-absorber-colour.513921/ Some others found that PlastiKote T-31 General Purpose Bright Orange Premium Enamel is a very close match as well. Cheers, Sam
