Yes, those will remove the half shaft. Just bend flat the locking tabs first. I'm a little disappointed that I see Gabe put a tie wrap on the boot instead of the proper locking clamp. I had the proper ones in place. It must have come off when he did the wheel bearing. Shamile Freeze....Miami Vice! Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
What's wrong with the clamps he used? Those are not what I consider tie wraps, maybe a miscommunication? Tie wraps to me are plastic.
Look closely at the inner clamp...it's a plastic tiewrap! The outer one is the proper metal with the squeeze lock from the center of the clamp. Shamile Freeze....Miami Vice! Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
I thought they were zip ties too!!! I had to zoom in after reading Xplodee post Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
yeah, both inner and outer clamps are proper metal type. I'm on a huge screen right now so it's clear for me to see. Perhaps its less obvious if I were on my phone
The plates that cover the the end of the bolts have to be bent flat. I used a large flat blade screwdriver with a dead blow hammer. Flatten the plate completely...then just unbolt the CV bolts. Shamile Freeze....Miami Vice! Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Ok...my bad...and apologies to Gabe lol The way the light caught it, it looked like a white plastic tie wrap. I was thinking....how did I not see that! Shamile Freeze....Miami Vice! Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
And don't trust an install that uses lock washers instead of locking tabs like this! ask me how I know
You don't need to remove the boot to remove the half shaft. The halfshaft will unbolt from the gearbox as an assembly. The ends are are a rounded metal end that sits in a curved cup on the gearbox end. Shamile Freeze....Miami Vice! Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
yes when the screws are away you can lift the drive shaft and fix it. then loosen the central screw and take away the flange. and then let yourself surprise you not can use a socket. if you have a good open wrench you can loosen those srews. I wonder: all axle shaft screws until now I removed had allen heads
Use a ring spanner. Don't mess with the boots if you don't have to. You'll have to go find the proper clamps all over again. If you do, you have to cut the clamp in the "loop" where it pinches. Use a metal snip for that. Shamile Freeze....Miami Vice! Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
I step away for a little while and came back to alot of posts . Sent from my moto g(7) using Tapatalk
I can't remember but see if you can try elevating the suspension by placing a floor jack under the brake rotor hub and lift slowly. See of that creates some room. Of not, remove the other side. I redid the CV joints awhile ago but wasn't trying to remove one side only. Shamile Freeze....Miami Vice! Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
For Orange County, you can have Larry from Ferrari Tech in Orange, CA, or Randy from RMT Motorsports in Yorba Linda work on it. I've had good experiences with both. Sorry to hear of the trouble.
