FF PTU Design Flaw.

campaign 371 is just a cap replacement...one hour job. campaign 381 is the one that says replace PTU if 2 conditions qualify.

 

I have a feeling the assembly number is referring to the PTU serial number. Interestingly the two campaigns are referring to 2 separate assembly number range, with campaign 381's range falling within campaign 371's range.

 

what does this mean? That there is a free campaign by FNA to fix the problem?

 

I don’t know but it seems like just for a few of the series and I doubt anyone is ever got them to take care of it after the warrantee is up

I would think if the campaigns were out before the warranty was over, the dealers should have carried the out the campaigns on the specified range of cars when they were in for the annual service. Those should have popped up in their system when the car's vin were scanned in upon arrival for service. Hmm, maybe I'm using the logic of German & Japanese car makers, not Ferrari

Ferrari NA told my.service rep to flush out the PTU. That eliminated the noise. It was considered maintenance and not covered under the powertrain warranty

In theory could one convert the car to rear wheel drive as a worse case scenario?

 

I believe it has been posted earlier in this thread that it is not possible.

 

There is at least one FF around (on Instagram at least) that has PTU deleted and running RWD. Would love to know how its done/what it costs.

 

My PTU is at GTE Engineering. Just received the invoice, $7,300 including shipping. Invoice doesn't say specifically what was wrong, cites "internal damage".
They had the PTU around a month before they took it apart. Serkan says parts are inbound, COVID delays and all I guess.
FYI GTE requires up front payment.

 

So 7300 plus 15 hours of labor - not bad. Who is doing the work?

Ferrari LV pulled the PTU. They always show me love on the labor side.

 

Looking at your earlier posts, I see you had a rotted hose for the PTU and you've had a DCT repair as well. It seems like you have had a rotten run of luck.
I'm maintaining a database of reported PTU failures. Would you mind telling me what year/month of registration your car is and when the PTU failed and at what mileage it failed? Thanks
