Hi, how many 612s left the factory with the manual gearbox?
199 worldwide of which (I think) 27 total RHD. These numbers were confirmed by the factory on request of Sotheby when they put a manual 612 to auction a few years ago. If you want, you can add to those numbers 2 F1 cars now converted to manual (to date)- one LHD and one RHD.
Of course not, was just FYI. I don't see that they're affecting the value of factory manuals one way or another.
I've just found these pictures. It's a manual 612 for sale at Ferrari Kroymans. Why does it say 1/43? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
While I desire a manual 612 myself, being the owner of a manual 575, I have to say that I cannot see a plaque like that coming from the factory. Ferrari was so keen to sideline the gated manual when it launched the 612 that it refused to offer any manual cars as media drives, and all the marketing publicity focussed on the F1 transmission during launch and then the HGTC option after that. The manual cars were considered an irritation, old tech, while the F1 was showing how Ferrari was ahead of the game. Given that I haven't seen that plaque in any of the gated 612s I have looked at, I think it's an owner's own initiative, as Don says. There are lots of plaque makers. Having said that, a little plaque like that would look very nice in my gated 575..hmmm.
I had a manual 612, enjoyed it. Dealer was so happy i took it off his hands in 2007 as like Darius said F1 (not a great box) was so fashionable ! I love a manual and have been toying with a 991.2 GT3
I agree that the 01/43 plaque is likely bogus. I've been in three manual 612s and none had this. My guess is that someone replaced the original "built for" plaque with this when they didn't want to see the original owner's name.
Seriously. At one time I recall watching a triple black manual three pedal SuperAmerica 575 sit and sit and sit for what today would be a STEAL. Where'd I put that time machine...
No way anybody in 2005 could know how many 3 pedal 612s were built since they continued to build them until early 2007.
