Interesting to see the 2 very early production examples go up for sale so recently. I wonder if there are concerns with this reporting as car #2 like I believe some mentioned about #99999.
BJK, to your point, is there a way to restore the CF back to a dark hue through careful restorative polishing? My gut tells me yes, but if so, I'm not sure why this would not have been done with this example prior to putting if up for sale.
Normal engine-bay heat-cycles cause the discoloration of the air intake plenum and you'll see this on almost all F50s as they are @ 25 years old at this point.
Hi, its very hard to access a car from some photos, especially if they are professional photos, because they are done to make the car look better than it is, or at the very least give its best angle - but one advantage, if they are professional the resolution is normally higher - so you can zoom into more of the detail But in my opinion buying a car from a photo is the same as buying a car in the rain - you really have no idea what the quality, detail and finish is really like. These car must be inspected, and I am not talking about on an auction floor, when sipping cheap Prosecco - they need hours and hours in proper lighting, on a ramp with a proper experience technician that knows then inside and out, not a salesman that want you to do the deal. I have had a quick look at the photos on the auction site - here are a few of my very quick observations, I have four kids screaming for my attention in the garden, so i have to be brief, if i had longer and spent hours looking at the detail and comparing with one of the cars in the collection, then i am sure i could pick a load more. But here goes, the quick photo inspection......
agree but this is excessive. first photo the auction car next photo a comparable car with slightly more miles..... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
i originally thought it may have been the light or the camera filter, because it is pretty much all discoloured, but compare the carbon on the top of the plenum chamber to the carbon at the sides .... Image Unavailable, Please Login
interior center console, also heavily discoloured compare the first photo of auction car, versus the car in the collection Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
the rear deck, looks like there is some delamination around the edges first photo is the auction car, next the comparable car Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
dashboard - that is some serious wear on an area that would normally not be touched, also its starting to bulge around the binacle inner edge Image Unavailable, Please Login
later added VIN plate - this was a Euro car with a later added US Federalization plate - i hope the original VIN plate from the factory is included. And wow, someone really took their time fighting those rivets - $2.8millin car do it properly, take the screen out if you have too, it's not a Honda Civic - hate workmanship like that! where is the torch? almost impossible to find a replacement if its missing Image Unavailable, Please Login

Marcel clearly knows the car, pay your money and let the gatekeeper share his knowledge of the history
