488 Pistas selling for less than MSRP...

Lots of data logs on the 488 Challenge but none on the pista.

 

I see only 31 cars (including Piloti versions) strange if you see 40!

In Germany we don’t have the 10-20K€ eco tax on new cars like Pista

Price of 317K€ includes stripe? In Germany regular stripe is a 11K€ option.

No, 317 K€ only included the carbon package PPAC, and did not include the eco-tax and luxury tax; my tentative configuration was about €360K (with a few options, including the stripe) when including these taxes (at the time, approximately 10 K€ for the eco-tax and 10 K€ for the luxury tax; now the eco-tax has been increased to 20 K€... on top of the fact that VAT is 20% in France rather than 19% in Germany).

 

No it's not! You would be surprised how many people actually buy two, three cars like those just beacause they can.
And other individuals that had the dream of buying one and in the first lap they catch fire and completely burn down. Oh and no Ferrari warranty or responsability!

 

I want to hear about your Lotus Cup car! I raced LotusCupUSA a few seasons and had a 211 for a couple years....

I’ll go out on a limb and say that in two years and the V-6 hybrid is out the Pista demand will go through the roof.

 

Will be interesting to see both the Speciale and Pista curve

Speciale will always be special but you can’t ignore the extra HP of Pista. Both will be desirable once we go hybrid.

I think the Pista's looks alone will hold it above whatever comes out by then regardless of powerplant. As long as the design is timeless, which imo it is, it'll maintain value in the longrun.

 

Interesting...I don’t fine the angular cuts in present day cars to be timeless...Pista, Aventador, even new Vantage...
I find the sleek curves of the 360/430 era and the DB9/DBS prev gen to be timeless. Of course, everyone’s opinions vary.

I know the Pista is awesome (not debating that fact at all so please don’t be defensive) so tell me what makes it continue to be awesome in 5 years after the production run is over and there are two or more faster/quicker etc. successor models on the market and possibly one prototype? For example, the 458 Speciale is still awesome (my opinion and obviously that of many other Ferrarista) and you all know some of the reasons so I won’t list them for brevity sake. NOT comparing the Speciale to the Pista...but I am interested in what will keep the Pista relevant in the future.

The lines on the Scud (and 16M) are sublime IMO.

 

I never thought of the Pista as angular. It's got more curves than the Speciale (especially the front) and definitely not as angular as the Lambos imo. That's why I think it looks better than those, but that's just my opinion.

 

What keeps any car relevant in the future? Whats so special about a CS or Speciale? Both slow by todays standards. They aren't the last NA mid engine V8's. Love to hear your perspective.

 

Everyone has their own taste. Personally I like all of the ones you mentioned but I like the Pista more.

 

There is nothing angular about the F8 and the Pista. Actually, it is the curvaceous design aesthetic which distinguishes them from previous models.

 

Of course I will come of biased because I have one but I agree with you. I said it before I got one, the Pista is one of the best looking modern day Ferraris ever made and it has the performance to back it up.

 

I agree and I would say the Lambos are what I would consider more angular.

 

Don’t get me wrong, I love the aesthetics of the Pista (therefore considering one)!
But I just don’t know if it’s timeless....perhaps in the future it may be.
I consider something like the 250 TR timeless...

I’m done with “faster” cars. Speed to me is overrated and current cars (and future) are too “fast” for street roads.
What makes a car special for me is the emotions it evokes....
Scud would be the 60ms SCT gear shifts, bang to your back
CGT, the mechanical brute force and the tricky manual shifts
Elise, feeling every pebble on the road, point and shoot steering
Speciale, nimble steering, NA F1 sound
I’ve said it before, I’ll be “collecting” backwards in generations.
Modern cars excite me no more.

I'm using the term timeless in the sense it won't look outdated rather than just it will always be fashionable if that makes any sense haha. The 250 TR, DB4, etc are gorgeous cars but you can tell their age. The original GT40 aged the best and imo is timeless and is why the 2005 GT continues to look great. The Pista won't be regarded as highly as those cars historically, but imo will age very very well. The S-duct front end was done extremely well along with the clean lines that flow away from that.

Edit: CGT is a timeless design too imo.

 

I love the 488 too but have never been on a track. I know this is hypothetical - because you are getting yours at MSRP - but how much above MSRP would you pay for a Pista Spider?
