^ does make you wonder what their criteria is. is it now simply that the chassis engine and trans are original?

Those huge rectangular US market indicators were imposed by the US requirements, don't you prefer Pininfarina styling to Ralph Nader disfiguration?

    No, actually I don't.
Some US version cars I prefer over Euro versions. For one, the F40.
    14857 is a US car.

Thank you. I remember growing up with that car. Funny story:
I was 10 years old and that old photo above, my father detailed the crap out of that car that morning before the "professional" photo shoot. I thought I was smart, after he went in, I got the "rag" and wiped that whole car down.
Well... little did I know, I wiped it down with the interior leather conditioner rag. Boy did I get it for that!

    My first detailing experience.

Yes, they are horrible and disfigure a lovely design.....what was done to the f40 in usa is an aberration, doesn't even look the same car!

Essatamente:) The Swiss box under the F40 rear wing was not bad either -though they seem to have all disappeared, Marcel might confirm if any still exist- but the worst of all was the US version Maserati Khamsin utter disfiguration, I won't post photos here to remain on topic. The federalized BB512 had a front underside extended forward on which you could rest a dinner tray!

According to listing text, it already appears to have "Classiche Certificate", though it's color is not specified.

I always find it quite interesting seeing such half-hearted efforts in attempts to make a U.S. market example to "appear" not as one.
OTOH, it does give them that (personalized) "Custom" look, commonly done with all sorts of cars.

I agree the inane bumpers were worse--Bora, Merak, Khamsin, Countach--all of them.

comparing the small rear daytona sidelight to countach bumpers is a stretch. yet everyone seems to forgive the extended bumpers on the later daytonas. the “original design” was to have the bumpers tight to the body.

The 512 BBI was in my opinion the worst. Those US bumpers and side markers ruined the car.

Non-factory mods however, the Amerispec cars were grotesque.

Marc is discussing the mandated DOT mods all of which compromised the aesthetics with negligible utility. I agree I don't care for the extended Daytona bumpers either.
