    Exactly!

Latest forecast has rain sneaking into early/late Saturday, but nothing compared to Friday. Saturday afternoon and Sunday looking dry.

With greatest respect to Ronnie Peterson, it was also the day that Mario Andretti won the world championship, in a scenario eerily similar to 1961.

It wasn't even a free practice, just a demonstration, and it was Kimi's car.

With a Lotus 72 in the background. JPS Lotus campaigned them up through 1975ish?

I think it is a Lotus 76. Similar profile, narrower nose. Not a great success.

I would have to check to see if they raced the Type 76 in Spain in 1974, but I believe the only season it competed was 1974. It's difficult to tell from the photograph.

    * I just checked a few sources. Spain 1974 race was stopped for two hours due to heavy rain. Ronnie Peterson(rainmeister) led the first 20 laps in the Lotus 76 before stopping to change from wets to slick tires. It was Niki Lauda's first GP victory.

    RtR!

You're right, the 72 was seen into '75, but according to Doug Nye's (late) 1978 book on the single seat Lotus cars, the 76 was raced in '74. The whole "year slippage" thing always seemed strange to me: the 77 appearing in '76, the 78 being introduced in '77, and the 79 making it's debut in '78, after which the ground effects era which was less linear.

Right. Even harder to explain is the Lotus 49 of 1968:D
