My friend and one of the greatest special effects geniuses passed away last night. He had been fighting cancer the past couple years.

Stan Winston created some of the most memorable and greatest special effects to ever be seen in a film including Jurassic Park, Aliens, The Terminator, Predator...the list goes on and on and on...

Stan was very talented. I met him when I was Directing The Exterminator. He designed and built the "Soldier" that got beheaded in the opening Vietnam sequence.

    RIP

If I was an SFX guy I'd have my coffin wired with some levers, sensor and speakers to raise my arms and yell when someone leaned into the casket.

Can you imagine the classic eulogies? "Bobby made this great exploding head.. *sniff* you've never seen such attention to detail, the brains falling out were so wicked cool.. *snort* he even had some arterial spraying blood from a hose behind the ear... nobody could make a cranium destruct like Bobby."

I know this is an old thread, but decided to hop on here after looking at the documentation that came with my recently purchased 360 and saw that it belonged to Stan Winston.
