500 TRC chassis #0644

Not a 500 TRC.
0644 MDTR was a 625 Le Mans Spider by Touring. The third and last of only 3 cars built (the others were 0632 MDTR and 0642 MDTR).

At the time of the crash at VIR the car was painted dark green and had race#50, the wreck was parted out, the engine went into 500 Mondial Spider Series II Scaglietti chassis #0536 MD.

I have been under the impression that the 625 motors in each of the three 625 LeMans Spiders bodied by Touring were raced only at LeMans and subsequently the three cars had regular 500 TRC 2 liter motors installed before being sold to clients. Hence the transplant from 0644 into 0536 is a standard tipo 131 2 liter motor internal number 48 TR.

I also believe that two of the three 625 LeMans motors went to 0672 ( int # 625LM2) and 0680 (int # 625LM3). No idea where int # 625LM1 went.
