1994 348 Spider Argento Nurburgring with black interior. We purchased this car on Bring A Trailer in March. It is a well sorted car with good recent service history. The paint and interior are solid driver quality, definitely not a garage queen. The last major service was completed in July 2017 at 22,550 miles. A new clutch with an upgraded release bearing was also done at this time. The car has been driven almost 9,000 miles since then, which, in my opinion, is great. Current mileage is 31,3XX.

When the car arrived here at the end of March, we were pleasantly surprised to find a car that was even better than expected. Our insurance company doesn’t insure many exotic cars, so they required me to jump through a few hoops. One hoop was an inspection. German Master Tech, though not a Ferrari specialist, did the inspection. (They do have another customer with a 348 Spider, so they have some familiarity with 348s). They found two things. Old (ancient really) tires, and a tear in the driver side wheel side CV boot. Otherwise they were very impressed with the lack of scrapes and dry (no leaks) powertrain.

Unfortunately, my wife, who is the true drop-top enthusiast, does not feel confident driving this car. Ergonomics certainly play a role, but this just isn’t the right car for her. And if we can’t both enjoy the car, I feel it is best to keep looking.

The links above have great photos and all of the pertinent information about this car. We can take specific photos if requested, but the quality will pale in comparison to the above links!

This forum has been awesome. I learned quite a lot, and have had many posts and PMs of support. That is why I am hoping to sell this car here, on Ferrari Chat, to a forum member. We are not flipping this car, it just doesn’t work for us. I feel we got a great deal, and if we can break even(or close) then we are happy to pass along a great deal to the next owner. As such, the car is priced at $42,750.

Question, both mirrors are black. Shouldn’t they be silver? Or is the black wrap still on? Or were they painted black to compliment the black wrap. Not a deal breaker just wondering. Beautiful car.
    GLWS.

Personally, I like the black mirrors on this car because, now, everything above the "door line" is black (except the windshield frame). So they blend in.

However, if it were mine I'd repaint them back to silver... at some point.

I believe the mirrors are painted, but not what I would call 100% sure.

No, I have not done either. The tires are very subjective. The choices in the stock size range from off-brand to Pirelli P Zero. If you drive like I tend to these days, ultimate traction isn’t my top priority. But for some, it is nothing but Pirellis. Hence, let the buyer choose.

As for the boot, I thought I would sell the car as it sits and let the buyer decide wether to do them all, and whether or not to do it themselves or at a shop.

I have all of the necessary paperwork, but it is not titled in Oregon as the DMV had shut down when I purchased the car.

I am happy to accommodate your son-in-law.

    Cheers

There are tons of good tire options out there. My current favorite is the Firestone Firehawk Indy 500. you could go with 225/45-17 front and 255/40-17 rear for about $500 for the whole set and get way better performance than the crappy Pirelli.

Beautiful car! ...if only it were a Coupe for me. This is the year ('94 and '95) where Ferrari figured out how to tame the handling gremlins. Prior years needed wheel spacers, perfect alignment, and the "right" tires to handle safely at high speeds. Unfortunately for buyers in prior decades, those tires didn't arrive until the generation of Michelin PS2 and similar/ better tires. I have driven these cars in years past and spun them around at regular highway speeds. It wasn't until much later that I drove a properly set-up car that I was able to truly enjoy these masterpieces. The 348 is truly a Great Driver's car. Pre-'94 It can be a handful if not properly set up or for the casual driver. So this '94 is a masterpiece, and truly a great Ferrari in the spirit of what Enzo Ferrari intended his cars to be. My 458 and 430 are nanny-limited, grocery getters compared to this generation. My perfect choice is a 348 coupe in this color!! ...drooling at this color!!!

Holy Moly, I heard about the 348's touchy handling but spinning the car around while going in a straight line is news to me. Care to elaborate - since you survived the ordeal to tell the story?

Not sure where you got the straight line assumption, lol...or that highways don't have turns or curved sections. I live in the CA , SF Bay Area...plenty of curves, bends, and turns on highways and mountain highways/ roads here. Come out and visit.

..but I'll indulge you. It happened years ago. Cars wasn't "touchy; the car was fine. It just wasn't as forgiving to a novice as say....a Toyota. I belonged to a local, tight-knit group of car hacks where car owners would let others in the group "test-drive" others cars. In this case, I took the car out, swerved to not miss an exit, spun around on four lanes. It was an early Sat, almost no traffic, so fortunately i didn't hit anyone or anything on NB, Hi 280, I was going abt 50 getting ready to exit. The second time, years later, different 348, I spun out on hi 35 near L.G. taking a tight turn.... this time, I ended up sideswiping a tree(s). This was at abt 30 mph which is limit on that highway. This is non-news.....just an innocent comment to share experiences with this type of car.

    Hi Everybody

Thank you for the continued interest. Based on feedback received privately I am going to address the cars few needs (tires/CV boot/coolant flush/oil and filter change) and adjust the price when complete. I had mistakenly thought the gear heads here would want to take care of those items themselves (and save in the process), but I was wrong! So expect an update in the next week or two.

    Cheers!

Great car, great price, it will sell.....as far as your insurance company...I have insured multiple exotics with State Farm, over 25-30 years, never have they requested I do an inspection...maybe it’s just me, but I have never heard of that.

Yeah its interesting. I think your original thoughts were sound, let the new owner choose their favorite tires, get some things done themselves or at their shop/guy so they know the repairs were done right. I prefer cars that way but obviously some don't.

State Farm DID inspect my 308GTB for "Agreed upon Value" policy they have to confirm condition.

If you are accepting "their valuation" in an incident then perhaps they do not.

This is a great car, watching the thread.
I would shoot the mirrors back body color too, can't be that much (although I'm sure it's $1K!).
