PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (April 22, 2020) — Knowing that entrants, judges, volunteers and guests face ongoing health concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic, officials of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance have decided to cancel the show, which was scheduled for August 16, 2020.

“My heart goes out to all of the people who are involved in the Pebble Beach Concours and who are impacted by this decision,” said Concours Chairman Sandra Button. “Many of our entrants have been working on a special car for years, and this was to be their moment. Some of our overseas entrants were nearing the point of putting their cars on boats and planes, and their own travel arrangements have long been made. The same is true for many of our international cadre of judges."

“We thank all of the enthusiasts who have gathered at Pebble Beach time and again to renew long-standing friendships, celebrate great cars and give so generously to Concours charities — and who have already expressed their support for the coming celebration no matter the date.”

The car selection process for the 70th Pebble Beach Concours, which was scheduled for Sunday, August 16, 2020, was recently completed, and entrants were notified of their acceptance earlier this month. The acceptance letters stressed that these cars were invited to appear at the 70th celebration — even if it was delayed. With the cancellation of this year's event, the 70th Pebble Beach Concours will now take place on Sunday, August 15, 2021.

Features will remain as planned, with a display of past Best of Show winners along the edge of Stillwater Cove, and special classes focusing on Pininfarina coachwork, Porsche 917, Talbot-Lago Grand Sport, Miller racing, Iso, Early Electrics and the Carrera Panamericana.

“Pebble Beach Company has been pleased to host this event since its beginning, and we look forward to hosting the 70th celebration in 2021,” said Company CEO William L. Perocchi. “This event does more than celebrate great cars; it benefits so many people in need. Ultimately, the continued health and safety of everyone associated with the Concours is our number one priority, which led us to this difficult decision. We recognize that cancelling the 2020 event will be disappointing to many, although we are confident it is appropriate under these unique circumstances.”

All tickets purchased to date for the 70th Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance will be valid for the event on Sunday, August 15, 2021. Ticket purchasers who cannot attend the 70th Concours on its new 2021 date can request a refund by emailing [email protected].

For more information on the Concours, go to www.pebblebeachconcours.net.

Right! Now we have more time to do needed repairs/maintenance issues on our cars we’ve been putting off. Next year should be interesting to see what emerges and besides, who really was going to feel comfortable traveling out to the Peninsula during car week knowing all walks of life from all around the world were going to be there......

Thank you for the info: here in Italy everything has been cancelled or postponed until this August. Villa d'Este and 1000 miglia postponed to October 16th, 1000 miglia to October 22th, but who knows if they will be performed. We will learn something more in a month, I think.

A small elegance concourse here in Mantova that there will be during Gran Premio Nuvolari, already wrote me that I can suscribe for this year edition (scheduled on September 26th) but they don't know if there will be a 2020 edition yet.

    ciao

Email received, Concorso Italiano cancelled as well during car week. Sounds like this year is officially a wash....... See you all next year!

MERCER ISLAND WA (April 24, 2020) — Due to the ongoing health concerns related to the COVID -19 virus and the uncertainty of events being permitted by state officials and the California Governor, officials at the Concorso Italiano Foundation, the owners of the Concorso Italiano have decided to cancel the 2020 event originally scheduled for Saturday August 15, 2020.

“We are exploring ways to continue our support for the Jacob’s Heart Children’s Cancer Support Services, our primary beneficiary of the Concorso Italiano event. Also we are continuing our fundraising for CESVI Foundation providing medical protective equipment to the main hospital in Bergamo Italy – the epicenter of the outbreak in Italy – and helps the elderly and families to shelter in place by providing equipment, food and support services directly in their homes.” said Tom McDowell, Chairman of the Concorso Italiano Foundation.

While our focus is on 2021, we continue to donate $10 from all vehicle registrations and ticket sales to Cesvi as well as matching direct donations made here.

“Our deepest gratitude is extended to the team, our partner sponsors, and the car clubs who have supported us through many years. It is wonderful to have their support. They need to know with adequate time that the event we are accustomed to will not happen this year so the travel arrangements may be adjusted. Our international clients and partners have indicated their travel limitations already and we look forward to 2021 when we resume our wonderful event, as well as all of the terrific events of the Monterey Car Week.”

The celebrations scheduled for the 35th Concorso Italiano will be celebrated on Saturday August 14, 2021, as well as significant anniversaries and celebrations of 2021. We will work with all of our partners to create a terrific event for our clients and look forward to our Italian brands returning to the beautiful fairways of the Bayonet Golf Course, with our unique features and events.

The events of Car Week do more than celebrate great cars; they benefit so many people in need. Our efforts with Jacob’s Heart will continue, and the health and safety of everyone associated with the Concorso Italiano is top priority, which led us to this very difficult decision. We recognize that cancelling the 2020 event will be disappointing to many, although we are confident it is appropriate under these unique circumstances.”

All tickets purchased and vehicle registrations made to date for the 2020 Concorso Italiano will be valid for the event on Saturday, August 14, 2021. We will forward updated tickets to all ticketholders and vehicle registrants in the coming weeks.
