I've been owning/following the Mondial since the early 90s and just don't see them as collectibles. Exception, of course, are museum pieces with less than 1000 miles on them. Bottom line, car collectors don't buy Mondials for their value (unless the value is low for the flip). However, enthusiasts buying Mondials don't expect to gain any profit. Just lots of enjoyment instead.

For me its an inexpensive, more comfortable 328 with back seats for my kids. Ive taken it to Mondipalooza in 2013, the Port Jefferson ferry for a long weekend with my wife, too many C & C's to count etc..and meant countless friends Image Unavailable, Please Login [IMG]

I never understood Merlin. This place is more like a hoard museum than a dealership that sells. I have seen the same inventory there for the last 3 or 4 years. Absolute nonsense. How do they even pay their staff? I tried to make an offer on a 348 last year that they should have taken as it is still for sale. Since then I bought 2. LOL.

Someone once told me that they use those cars as bait to bring in customers for other cars but I don’t know if that’s true or not.

That is some expensive fishing bait if they keep the whole array of high priced stock with little intention of turning it over. Floorplanning costs to fund the bait would be prohibitive unless the business is astonishingly capitalized and flat out owns all their stock.

There was a dealership in Houston when I was younger (called the Toy Store if I remember correctly) that specialized in special-interest vehicles. They were expensive and their inventory never seemed to turnover. Eventually they were busted for drug distribution (cocaine?). I'm not saying that this is the same situation, but there are a lot of smaller companies that are covers for something else.

Didn't they also have a dealership in Florida? I remember their full page ads in the Dupont Registry.

The Auto Toy Store. Very familiar with it. Also had one in Ft. Lauderdale on the Strip.

I had a friend whose parents were dope dealers and owned several night clubs and a used luxury car lot. All to wash drug money.

    So you never know...

I’m actually a little optimistic for Ken and the prugna princess on BaT. A 40k mile t-cab in good shape and a recent full service was bid to $39k on BaT only a week or so ago. There is a beautiful QV cab (black over grey; stunning color combo imho) on BaT right now that has already been bid to $30k with 3 days left. Best of luck Ken!!

Thanks Temple. Cautiously optimistic lol, those are the best words to describe 'Auction Week'

Life has thrown lots of curve balls to EVERYONE the past few months, so either way it'll be interesting.

I had planned a major in March, but things fell apart timing wise with my mechanic friend, so, here we are :)

I think Stephane should buy it I don't think he has had a Prugna coupe yet let alone a 3.2 Prugna coupe.

We are not disagreeing.. -im just saying with the price of T coupes in europe, and after the duties importing, and shipping, coupled with the discount of a Euro Spec car when you go to sell it one day, its not worth importing - unless you can not find one to your liking in america.-

One to one condition-wise expect similar pricing overall - premium for rare "one of 43" compared to the more plentiful Euro t Coupe. Also, the later cars have the Motronic 2.7 ignition and do not have the 1989 trans grenade. ;)

But generally speaking, it all comes down to the buyers' preferences. However, I don't believe the "Euro spec discount" holds true anymore (except maybe in CA). In fact, I'm pretty sure that it was an advantage to me when I sold my Saudi Spec 3.2 Coupe in 2015.

If you search the 348 forum (keywords separately or in combination - "staked ringnut" "clutch shaft", "gear box whine") there are lots if instances of gearbox failures. Most seem to be from the earlier cars and from various causes. As the product line developed, one would think that the later cars received either updates and/or proper maintenance/servicing.

The loose ringnuts were an assembly issue from the factory, as it's been reported here on FerrariChat. So, to me, due diligence on a premium-priced Mondial t Coupe would demand full maintenance records from new, and a documented full inspection of the transaxle to boot.

Too many horror stories, for example:
