Like WW2. After 4 years of the war America was never the same again. This is shorter -- but technology and traditions change faster today than 1945.

    The UN should invoice China.
China has enough cash to try and repair the damage done.
Chinese bonds are now the safest place to put your money.
    Coincidence ?

When I first started watching and learning about F1 it was exciting...crude and exciting. Drivers performed miracles with lesser machines, rules were simple and easy to understand, cars were painted the colors of their country (not of their sponsor), and you could hear and smell the track from a mile away. I don't like the current hybrid cars, haven't since they came into being, and as such I don't really miss this season. If one needs budget caps to limit the total impact of the dollar, I'd be for that, but then lift all the limits on the design of the car and testing. Let it become real racing again. Run what you brung. That would make it exciting and unpredictable, and that would get me back to watch.

    Look at it like this::

We are 1/3rd the way through the scheduled season and every driver and car on the grid is tied for first place in the standings.

  11. How's that? As in....in which direction do you feel it changed?
We had just recovered from the depression, then the war.

Actually kinda funny and ironic you bring up WW2 as a game changer given the OP: WW2 did change how people looked at risks and life and gentlemen drivers took up racing and F1 was born simply because it couldn't possibly be more dangerous than what they just went through.

I hope you are correct! But today with easy borrowed money, today's survivors are not the same. The war ended the recession and also eliminated plenty of the population!

Given the traveling nature of F1, it's hard to see how they are going to bounce back this year. No one will attend the races i suppose. Which is why i feel that 2020 is done.

That, and as someone mentioned, it looks like Merc will walk away again with this, no one really cares at the moment,.

And BBC just mentioned that Zac Brown said F1 needs profound changes in order to survive....
    What a genius !! Wow !
If the legacy of this disease is:
    - the end of cruise liners
    - the beginning of the end of globalization
    - world revolt against China
    - more funding for CDC and medical R&D

    I would be happy

  18. "E" for effort, but, 'that has nothing to do with the price of pianos in Portugal ( your "every driver and car on the grid")......
There was no mention of a "tie" in my response.......
