Greetings, everyone. Back in my late 20s, I was seriously considering the purchase of a 308. Was in Maranello on vacation, and purchased a Scuderia Shield keychain from a retailer outside the factory. Well,B-school and kids came along shortly thereafter, and it simply wasn't in the cards. I kept the keychain sealed in the envelope from the store with the promise to myself that I would someday have something to attach it to. Finally made good on that this last February, and the car was delivered to me recently after a fresh major. It's currently tucked in the garage awaiting the pollen season to die down here in NC. Yellow on black is not a good look. Excited to learn from you all and be a part of the 348 brotherhood. Forza. Including a pic so you don't have to ask:)

Congrats - many people (hopefully not in this forum :) ) despise the 348 but it is actually far from bad... it's living, powerful enough for road use, and already a modern car not so demanding (in terms of maintenance and taking care of) as an older car.
The cable command of the gearbox may require attention, since the gearbox is relatively fragile and a bad command may not help it - just one thing to be cautious about.
Road holding is fine but may depend on the suspension set up.

Welcome and congrats! I bought my first Ferrari last Sept. 2019. I was able to sneak a drive in a week or so ago as it was a gorgeous day. I live in Ontario, Canada, 45mins away from Buffalo. The one thing I learned quickly, is the car needs to be used. Enjoy it, drive it, give'er. Sitting all winter is unfortunately never a good thing for any vehicle.

I start mine weekly in the winter and let it run until the fans come on.

When I bought my 348, the Ferrari specialist I bought it from told me that if I couldn't drive the car, in winter time for example, to fire it up at least once a week, and run it until a few minutes after the oil temperature had reached it's full operating temperature.

They said that only running it until the coolant was up to temperature, and the fans came on was not good, because the oil would still not be up to full temperature yet.

They also advised me not to let the engine just idle, but to gently rev the engine, and hold the revs, starting with a limit of @ 2,000rpm until the water temp started to move, then slowly build up to 3,000rpm for a while, and then 4,000rpm, in a similar manner to how you would drive the car from cold. Their reasoning was, just idling leaves the car on the "cold-start"cycle longer, meaning it is running a richer fuel mixture for longer.

At the end of the day, they know far more about Ferrari's and Ferrari engines, so I went with their advice.

Makes sense, the car goes into closed loop when the check valves close at 300 degree cat temp or so if I recall I tested it with a thermal gun a few times, not very long actually.
Quick question, how do you know when it reached engine oil operating temp?
