Exacty. With Ferrari dominance FIA kept introducing more and more rules to try and give others a leg up. With Red Bull dominance FIA was even more aggressive. With Mercedes Dominance, FIA actively pursued anyone that offered even the slightest challenge to Mercedes.
So not a potential lol - https://www.planetf1.com/news/toto-wolff-aston-martin/ Mercedes team boss, Toto Wolff, has reiterated once again that his future in Formula 1 is with the Silver Arrows and not Aston Martin.
all singing and dancing Cayenne Turbo S (soon e hybrid) miles cheaper, similar looks (current one even better IMO), bolted together properly...For others there's the Bentaga or of course simply a Range Rover. I've had high hopes for aston martin but sadly they've just been producing the same cars in slightly differently bodies. The concepts such as the 003 is what they should've come with already! THAT's a car that could save aston. a Mclaren 720 rival. Too little too late now IMO.
It is a miracle they have survived so long. I remember an anecdote about a movie star touring the factory in the 1960's He asked how much a DB4 was. The Aston guy said, "Well, Sir that will be (say) £ 3,500" The star replied, "People seeing me in an Aston would be great for sales, you should give it to me at cost". Ok, said the Aston guy, "that with be £4,000 then Sir"
Toto Wolff dismisses rumours that have linked him to taking a stake with Aston Martin's F1 team, and remains committed to Mercedes in the "short term Image Unavailable, Please Login https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/148927/wolff-committed-in-short-term-to-mercedes
Toto is going no where but Mercedes. He will get a new deal. Stroll is not a place that is worth going to after Mercedes??? I could see Ferrari but nothing else lol.
I take the opposite side... Toto leaves Mercedes at the end of 2020 to lead Aston Martin Lagonda. Leaves F1. Too much smoke... there is a fire somewhere.
Very 'contrarian' I think leading a car production company is not what he has in mind. I see him with a good technical/sporting future with Mercedes and in Formula-E at some point. Toto tends to be a futurist oriented I think. Will be interesting to see where he lands of course.
Well,... Isn't that a requirement for all heads of AML? I just wonder if he wants a new challenge. He's been head of MB during the most successful run in F1 history. There is only one place to go from the pedestal he's on as far as racing is concerned. Does he want to be involved during rough times... or does he want to go out on top? The same logic goes for Mercedes. I don't see what's in it for them to stay in F1... If I was on the board,... I'd certainly be looking at risk / reward. Someone overheard asking ... so what is this Formula E thing all about???
Cayenne Hybrid weighing in at 2535 kg, destroying tarmac rapidly everywhere ! Where will the extra money come from, for all the extra street repairs ?
That;s a good point. In the netherlands they charge road tax based on weight of vehicle....I always thought it was a stupid way to tax but maybe there's merit to it after all!
There is some traction in that scenario. I don't think Toto Wolffe would be given a top managerial job at Mercedes the car company, if he was to leave the F1 team. But at Aston, he could be offered the CEO spot with the mission to develop it into a top luxury brand.
I think Toto has enough contacts and experience in F1 by now, he could just grab a few investors and start his own team. But he’d have to come up with a good team name and logo.... Leave it with me, I’m sure I’ll be able to knock something out.... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Or would his new team end up bearing the name "Toto"? A feisty Cairn Terrier chasing the heels of the big dogs...
