The aftermarket is already in full gear......[ATTACH]
I like it!! For the track its coilover springs. For the street airbags are worth definite serious look.
Looks like almost every automotive YouTuber has gotten a C8 so there is lots of new content out there. The quality of that content is subjective but it it something to watch while cooped up at home.
WRT reliability it is amazing that Ferrari does so well compared to a mega manufacturer like GM or Toyota especially with first year of a new model.
Changes for 2021 - new color options, new stripes ....two exterior colors, Long Beach Red and Blade Silver, are being swapped out for a new Red Mist Tintcoat (GPH) and Silver Flare (GSJ). https://www.corvetteblogger.com/2020/03/29/2021-corvette-options-and-two-new-colors-leaked/
Also wireless Apple Car play will be standard. Hopefully 2020 models can have a software update to include it.
Apple Car Play is $4219 in the F8. Nowhere in the brochure does it state whether it is wireless or not. I believe it still requires a hard wire to operate, but I'm sure some of the new owners can confirm or deny that. As a point of reference, Apple Car Play was $100 in the Alfa Stelvio and it was std. in the Cadillac CT6.
It was my understanding that it was still hardwired and not wiresless. In the 2020 C8 wired Apple car play is included in the 2 or 3 LT packages. For 2021 its supposed to be wireless.
In this day & age, all the Apple Car Play should be wireless. I was disappointed it is still hard wired in the CT6. Hope Ferrari can do it for the F8's.
What I wonder is if its a software or hardware upgrade in the C8. To me, it should be software as the only wireless communication with the phone is by bluetooth. Wireless Apple car play might require internet access to work wirelessly. The hardware has OnStar so it can connect to the internet. Ferrari doesn't. Here is an adapter if you have wired carplay to turn it into wireless https://carplay2air.com/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI-rmdspbF6AIVOh-tBh1m8gO0EAAYASAAEgKCivD_BwE I'm not expert on how it works but there is something that restricts wireless from wired Its still amazing to me that Ferrari could at one point get away with $1000 for a Iphone cable or $4300 for Apple car play.
It is arrogance and complacency which has allowed other manufacturers to not only compete but in some aspects (not all) to surpass them. (Never mind car play, they should have been the pioneer in cf tubs years ago. Instead, McLaren stepped in and .......) .
Multiple GM Products, Including a Corvette Variant, Will Reportedly Be Delayed Due to Coronavirus https://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/future-cars/a31991056/multiple-gm-products-including-a-corvette-variant-will-reportedly-be-delayed-due-to-coronavirus/
I hope the C8 will be like when Honda stepped in with the first NSX. If forced Ferrari and Lamborghini to change and become more reliable, use new methods (like aluminum skin), and less expensive to do maintenance. The C8 is great value for the money particularly in the accessories and options. At some point you look at Apple Car play at $4400 and shake your head, even if you have millions in the bank to throw away. Competition improves the breed. That's good for consumers.
