For my 83 qv, I just picked up a set of 348 rims. Advice on tires to run on it?

    Thanks in advance!

It would depend on what type of driver you are and what you expect to do.

IF ultimate cornering grip is your preference in the dry, then I suggest the Toyo R1R.
But this is rather a street legal intermediate.

If you post your priorities, you will get the right advice for sure
    Think of:
    - Grip in dry
    - Grip in wet
    - sound emission
    - fuel economy
    - longlivety
    - price
    - originality
    - etc.

just curious; how much did you pay for the rims? Where/how did you find them? Love the look of 348 wheels on Mondials!! Just the right amount of “aggressiveness” (look)

Just looking for reasonably priced tire for average, every day driving; car will be used as a weekend and good weather pleasure driver. Not concerned about any specific performance metrics. Just looking for good quality, reasonably prices tires. thanks!

Go to tire rack and you can sort by price, grip, noise (quietness) etc etc. whatever is important to you.
I have Michelin pilots and they are pretty dang good.

Jerry suggested Tire Rack, and you can't go wrong with BF Goodrich tires. I had a set of these on my 348 (but different sizes):

I have these (dif size) on my Mondial 3.2, and have been very satisfied with performance. They also are more affordable than many other options.

Just remember you’ll never wear them out. They’ll get old and hard and need to be replaced with like 12k miles on them. Maybe a good reason to buy used ones, not that I’m recommending that.

I have owned my 87 Cabriolet for one year yesterday. Believe it or not, the car had the original 1987 dated Goodyears on it when I bought it....

Yes most of us have tires that will age out before wearing out. So go for an aggressive tire

Of all the tire brands you might not think of this one- Sumitomo. The previous owner installed these on my '85 Mondial QV Cab and they seem quite good to me. I only drive in nice weather, never in cold or rain. I doubt you'll beat the price on a set of these, and I'm usually a price is no object type of guy. I like them so much that when my wife's Lincoln Navigator L needed replacement tires I went with the appropriate Sumitomo size and I have liked them on that vehicle as well. I think this brand is just not well-marketed in the states. I believe the same company also makes Falken and Dunlop in certain parts of the world. Oh and my '85 also has 348 wheels sourced and installed by the previous owner. They really work well with the Mondial IMO. I never used to like 360 wheels on the Mondial but I have come around to seeing those as well (those need some work prior to installing). I also have the original Mondial wheels and tires in storage which is kind of nice.
