    Safe? Any major drawbacks?

Close to renting a house there and interested if there are any absolute no-no's. Place has a 2 car garage so can bring the red stallion with me this June. Thanks in advance!

North and West of Lake Como would be better than east or south of the Lake.

Of course if you are referring to the area called St. Anthony Park off of Como and east of Highway MN280 that should be pretty good.
A lot of these homes have detached garages and you may wish to add to any existing security.

Any strong reason to be in the city? So many nicer places to live...especially for driving opportunities.

It can be nice living inside the I494/I694 belt to keep your commute times down or using transit to get to work. It all depends on where you work and what kind of commute time you can tollerate. Living outside the belt is OK but can make driving to the other side of town a pain. It does'nt matter to me anymore since I am retired recently, but I used to ride my bicycle to work during spring , summer and fall.

Where in Richfield? A lot of that area is suffering from urban decay. Some parts still OK...
