How is Germany today, are you free to drive around or are you allowed to move only if you have a necessity/urgency?

    Thanks!

Here if policemen see me driving a Ferrari, they will chase me, stop me and they will ask where I'm going and why. 4K Euro fine if there was no reason for moving outside home: they will check every time if the reason you will tell them is true or not. You have to declare in advance, before leaving, where did you start, where are you going and why, filling this form that you must have in your pockets (I have one filled and signed in my wallet in this moment, that told I had to move from my home to my office for working reasons. The distance between the two places is 700 meters).

    Ciao

You know better than any of us the severity/ dangers of the situation in Italy and also the seriousness of the Police there.

Current restrictions say, you can still leave the house for any reason, but you are not allowed to get together with more than one single person. Except family members (like your wife or children, IF they live in the same home like you). Gatherings on public places are strictly forbidden.

Sorry, I couldn't resist. I warmed up the engine this afternoon and after a while I got the impression, that it began running a big rough and heard some popping and crackling from the exhaust. Probably plug fouling. So I decided, that this thing needs an urgent drive.
Took my wife and we drove 30mls through the woods and to the nearby Rhine River, taking an ample walk through the swamps watching many animals.
308 runs perfect again and my brain is clear.

Thanks, Martin. Then the German situation is much better than Italian one and you did the right thing, a run with your Ferrari: I wish I could.

Here in NNJ & NY, they've already arrested & are prosecuting people for "Terroristic threats" as we are told it fits the description of biological weapon. unbelievable.

I've had the cars out for quick hops. This morning at Dunkin Donuts a guy in a suit comments to me - "I like your teddy bear"

Very little traffic where I live and very few police patrolling. At times I can see 1/2 mile with no cars. So guess what....

I had around 10mls. today without facing any car. Except a few trucks supplying food and essential goods. The drivers of those are among our heroes nowadays. I hope folks still remember, when things got back to normal and occasionally a truck drives ahead of us, slowing down our pace.

Sucks, but you did not have a tool kit below seat? Could have just set rear to the gear which was best to get home.

I've had my cars out a few times. I also have almost finished every little thing I wanted to do on each car - being retired helps there. The roads here in metro NYC are empty and the same for Long Island, but the cops are more prevalent. Weather is going through it's usuall bipolar disorder this time of year; cool, rain and mild in no particular order.

Ferraris don't really stick out here very much and just about no one recognizes the Boxer, so I haven't felt bad taking out the cars. However, if things don't start to show signs of relief for many, I may feel differently.

I got an email from the governor and the board this afternoon. I MAY can go back to work on April 17th.... (throw that up in P&R)

Its 11:42 pm CST. I m laying in bed flipping channels, thinking about getting my beautiful black 308 QV out in the morning and just driving somewhere. Throw a clean change of clothes and a toothbrush in a bag and just see where I end up. Just me and my little Ferrari 308.

Life doesnt have to suck these days.

This sounds like a great idea. But how are things regarding motels and hotels? Over here these are also affected by the shut-down. Means, no more tourism. Just a few still serve business purposes.

Not soon enough. They should have started lockdown at least a week earlier and then we would be a week ahead of where we are now with fewer deaths and hospitalisations and ultimately less economic damage.

This is a disease that is spread from person to person very easily, so keep away from people and stop spreading it.

I read today that the governor of the state of Rhode Island has banned entry of vehicles from NY and that the police/national guard are going to be actively searching homes in RI that are owned by New Yorkers to find any "escapees" from New York. What's next, work camps for those exposed to Cv? Hmm, wonder what the motto above the gates will be, "Work Will Make You Free?" Probably not, that one's been used before. :(

I was thinking about going for a nice long ride the other day but then someone pointed out to me that I may not want to do that because god forbid if I got into an accident do I really want to end up in the hospital? I still have gone for a few short drives but the hospital thing is in the back of my mind but then again like Dr. Tommy said life doesn't have to suck right now.

I thought all the New Yorkers where here in Vt but I guess they are all over the place. Problem is half the cases in the U.S. are in N.Y. with most being in the city and people aren't staying put they are leaving and spreading the virus as they go. The town where I live has a lot of second homes and an e-mail has been sent out asking people who are second homeowners from NYC who have come up here recently to self quarantine for 2 weeks. Again the problem is a lot of people are ignoring this and possibly spreading the virus and the bigger problem is densely populated areas like Vermont don't have the resources to care for all these people if they get sick.

In Belgium we can’t make any unnecessary trips, so there’s police control and big fines if you go for a pleasure drive.
Yesterday I had a very good reason to drive my car. My mechanic told me my car was ready with it’s maintenance, new belts etc, and he needed the space in his shop. So the only thing I could do was to pick up my little turbo and make al large detour to my home just to be sure everything worked fine. Lucky me everything works like a charm.

Yesterday while out walking, I saw a couple of young girls riding tandem on a motorcycle wearing shorts/tank tops/no helmet/no gloves, clearly out joy-riding They went past a police car who was stopped on the street. Other than glancing at them as they went by, being the only vehicle on the road, he couldn't have cared less.

He should have stopped them for being stupid clothing-wise but since there's no helmet law in TX and no law against being stupid, they were perfectly legal! :)
