Yep. You are right. Stock exhaust on the 458 is very monotone, and also very abrupt from quiet to loud. I got an Akrapovic system and its night and day. The sound is much more gradual from idle and changes tone as the revs go up. The best sounding car I have ever had, and I have had a lot.
It's hard to argue with her, but you might reply, "no expensive boats until we get the private jet we need"
ebay originally, but i tracked down the original thread listing them from a member here. I bought them off the gentleman that bought them from here. As for the install, I did put them in to only get a christmas tree on the dash. I have setup the car to goto Merlin this winter to have all the switches recoated and a harness built to handle the seat swap. All Alcantara. Th spec on this thing is crazy. Originally 400k. It was never publicly listed, my boss got a LAFerrari and he hooked me up with this one. So mine has the "Sport" exhaust option. Unsure the difference it makes over a Standard car, but it is very loud and sings past 4000. The GT3 is/was a great car, but on the street this is so much more fun and pleasing. The GT3 I only ever had fun in over 100 mph.
well not being listed explains it. Mine was 370k list so you have an idea of the options I have. I too have alcantara carpet and the frunk too. I have to say it is pretty damn cool. Enjoy it.
Ahh .. So the sound difference must be the Spyder. The other one's I drove were coupe's and they sounded very different.
Yes, offers in on nice boats .... We have our sights set on this brand and model, though not necessarily this particular one. https://www.yachtworld.com/boats/2013/oyster-625-3521281/
Sport exhaust is full exhaust system. Different sound. Had it on my first 458. On My F8, I chose the sport option which is just the tips. 2 different things.
Maybe it depends on year then. On my 2013, the sport exhaust is just the black tips and it’s priced at about $700-$800 if I remember correctly. Some people plug the valves on the exhaust, locking them open, so it sounds much better. I have the capristo valve controller on my car that does it electronically, and makes the car a whole different animal. I like it a lot.
You are right Chris, the factory option "sports exhaust" only offers the tips in black, nothing else. IIRC the factory does not offer cats-delete and other exhaust systems at all.
Ferrari offers full sport exhaust on 458. It was around $6000 installed. Deeper sound but not as good as after market exhausts. I still have the original exhaust in my garage that they gave back to me. They also offer just the tips (on 458 and F8). 2 different things
OP - congratulations, fun cars! Interesting. My 458 Spyder has headers back Fabspeed and I feel the same way. I actually prefer the sound at lower rpm. When the valves open I feel like it is screaming but not in a great way. It’s very off/on. I much prefer the linearity of sound of my Performante by comparison. Did you do full replacement?
I was once asked what I got out of being married, my answer was that I got out of being married. People laughed, I was not trying to be funny just tell the truth. Not sure exactly what you mean by that you got a Ferrari out of it, but it is a nice (I have a white 458 spider as well) car, enjoy it.
Yep. Good eye. She's sitting in the yard at Southwester Harbor in that pic. Second to last Sou'wester 42. I built her in 2005. Image Unavailable, Please Login
