Something to work on helps pass the time and provides a focus and objective. Mondials can be largely maintained by the owner!

(I once asked the owner of a “newer”) Ferrari what he had done recently to his car. He said - “the windshield wipers” and lamented the car must always go to the dealer.)

    Projects anyone?

I’m curious who rebuilt it and if it required a second mortgage. Mine is getting tired as well.

Hopefully, I am picking the car up tomorrow for some fuel system issue repairs. Will check with the mechanic.

Here is the link to the company that rebuilt the steering rack. The guys that pulled it and reinstalled it is Mod Mafia just north of Houston tx. Their specialty’s is Hummer rebuilds and modifications but they have a great mechanic that has spent a lot of time on Exotics. Mod Mafia also did a complete over haul on the fuel system for my Mondial 83 QV. “Gina” is running nice and cornering well.

Did not require a second mortgage. The rebuild was around $1000 and of course the labor of pulling and reinstalling.

Yes 1990 Mondial t ....... water blasted all the aluminium parts, intake manifold and belt covers etc. A very talented friend made new headers for me which I had ceramic coated, the originals were extremely rusty and fell apart whilst getting them out. Made new fuel rails from billet aluminium. Done approx 60,000 miles so just an external freshen up. New injectors and all new gaskets. Converted all fuel lines to -6 AN fittings as the old metric crimp stuff was a ticking time bomb. Easier to get here in Oz as well.

Hi guys - so my lockdown project is the electrical system on my 1990 T - lots of fun problems, no oil temperature (electrical issue?) no AC, heater fan not working (previous owner mod/fix?) some dash warning lights not working, clock not working, that should keep me busy for the next 6 months?? Steering rack gaiters need replacing as well - so I’m not going to get bored

So my project gets more complicated, it seems like one of the previous owners did a bit of work on the wiring, the fan control has been replaced with a multi position switch & it’s not working, the AC system looks like it will need a lot of work, the ABS system warning light is now on (no warning bulb fitted when I got the car) probably because the ABS loom looks to be damaged/repaired & possibly missing some connectors/pins on the brake master cylinder connector - so I’m going to replace that loom, on the up side I may have found an alternative to the digital clock - the original is a Jaeger clock & it looks very similar to one used by Renault, more news on that later

FINALLY got all the switches working. DeoxIT D5 is the good stuff.

Also sprayed various solenoids with some dry graphite lube to make 'em even easier to open and shut.

Now to clean all the gunk out of here & make it look pretty again.

Experiment request: anybody with a Mondial 8 care to measure the clearance between top of plenum and the engine lid? My 8 has the engine out and I am trying to determine if there is enough space to install a TPS for my EFI conversion. You could place some play-doy, or something similar on top of the plenum, then close the engine lid and then open and just tell me how thick the playdoy was :) ..... I'd be super thankful so I can continue on that part of my project :)
