this thread prompted me to look into both cars a little more deeply, and after an admittedly short dive into things, both cars actually dont seem to be made that well.
i dont think either one is a really great car. both have issues of some kind, and dont really seem that solid over the long term.

beginning to think that of the 5 aces, the analog cars are still the ones to gravitate towards. they seem to be made reasonably well and dont have aspects that will fail without any provocation.

not that it makes any difference to anybody, but if i had the $2.5 mil disposable to buy a car, it would not be either one of these fwiw.

The newer car are infinitely better built than older Ferraris, like the ones you mention. I believe your nostalgia skews your viewpoint.

you are most undoubtedly correct about build quality.

what i guess i was trying to say is that i would rather deal with build quality issues in the analog cars, vs wonky f1 gearbox, ecu, battery issues in the 2 modern ones.

moot point anyway since i dont have 2.5 mil to throw at cars right now. :)

I'm kind of shocked that Lingenfelter sold his Enzo. I assume he bought it new?

I'm shocked Ralph Lauren who previously owned it sold it too.

Ferrari isn't going to continue building that battery forever. You can't even buy a new top for a SuperAmerica.

All exactly as expected IMO considering these particular cars.

i would say that the F40 is probably the single most popular Ferrari model.
the average schmo likes it and actually recognizes it, and the tifosi love it.

yes on a production adjusted basis it trades very strong (and has historically) vs f50, enzo, 288 and LaF

i am not even talking about the valuation since that always draws out a few people into an argument....

i am just talking about popularity on a global basis.

if you put pics of the top 10 ferraris (just pick whichever ones you want), and asked 1 million people to cast only 1 vote for their favorite, the F40 would run away with it.
