I believe it is possible to have your original struts rebuilt if you still have them.
There is a guy in Vancouver BC who does this work and I can vouch for him personally
I think he is the only shop around and is very recommended.

Let me know if you want his contact info.

    Hi,

    Strutwise is the company.
    Phone 1-888-589-1208
They are located just outside of Vancouver BC
Frank is the owner and a great guy.
I have used his services many times in the past for my NSX and my Mercedes SL55

    I hope this helps,
    Gene Greer

Frank is a 1 man operation and he likes it that way.
He controls quality and makes sure everything is just right.
He can even add a bit more power to the struts if you request.....

Turn around time if I remember correctly is pretty quick.
I would say 2 weeks is a long time.
Probably could get them back sooner if workload is light or if you ask him to rush them.
Longest time is usually in the shipping.
Might be best to talk to him and see.

    HTH,
    Gene Greer

IIRC, Strutwise doesn't offer rebuilds to OEM specs, just conversions.
Ed, if you end up using his service, please share your experience, maybe on "Vintage" section or via PM.

I checked their website and turn around time when it is an exchange is same day (doubt he has some Daytona struts just lying around) or next day when he rebuilds them. As I thought, shipping is the biggest issue in time. Perhaps they can be expedited at an additional cost.

Having your old shocks rebuilt is the best way to go in my opinion. This way you know the history behind them and they are returned to you like new or better.
I even try to stay away from using other peoples cores that were rebuilt as you never know what they were like before they were rebuilt. (Just me)
Buying them used from others is just that, used parts. You never really know how long they will last and what you are getting.

    Just my 2 cents,
    Gene Greer

I've developed & produced my own*. Prototypes have been successfully in use for couple of years now. Currently out of stock, more coming as time and (now) CoViD-19 delays allow...

*Possibly most authentic appearing (and working) compared to others currently on the market.

timo, is your strut a “strut within a strut” arrangement?
how are yours similar to oem?

    OEM are/were hydraulic.
As far as I know or have seen, all, including mine, are incorporating some form of pneumatic operating technology, some are just "better" or have more authentic appearance than others, some are just borderline junk.
Years ago, I even considered/researched remanufacturing them with OEM type hydraulic technology, but like many other limited market items I've researched, developed or produced, costs proved beyond prohibitive.
Dimensionally or visually, mine are indistinguishable from OEM.
Pictures will be made available once I have more in stock.

    Here’s one of mine.
I assume you’re aware that there were at least two, perhaps three, different OEM strut designs with some detail variations.

yes. which design did you choose?
problem with repros on market is the bottom of strut body rubs on the frame bracket. hope yours has enough clearance.
    what is the cost?
i would prefer one without the label.
paint is satin, semigloss or other?
