I live in SoCal and am looking for a summer only/performance tire. What do you guys run and what is available in the states ? Aside from this one (which may be a perfectly fine choice) there just do not seem to be many options. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Contis are great. I run them on my 911 and have done for years, but I have Michelin Pilot Supersports on my 550.
Jeff, I've had them, in stock sizes, on my 550 for the past three years. I'm pleased with their dry and wet handling characteristics. Barry
The 17" wheels really limit your choices, but those Contis are good tires. The Michelin PS4S tires are likely the best street Ferrari tires available, but sizes are limited.
Bill- We had 24,000 lbs of household goods delivered Tuesday, so still digging out from that with boxes everywhere. Very little breakage, so we were lucky. Aaron and John still have the 575 and that will be shipped before too long.
You'll be happy with the Continental ExtremeContact Sports, Jeff. Bill - Your screen name makes more sense now. Terry - I've grown accustomed to your screen name. I've always known it refers to you and your wife, but every time I see it, the name Kazanjian flashes through my mind. Dr. Varaztad Kazanjian was a pioneer in my surgical specialty.
Michelin PS4s on a set of 18" HRE wheels. My OEM wheels have Michelin all season on them, installed by the previous owner. They weren't bad but I need to do a bit of refurb to the OEM wheels so I got the set of HREs.
These are HRE 547s. This is not my car. New PS4s are being installed on the HREs (which I just finished re-polishing). I got the wheels off of eBay at a pretty good price, $1300 if I remember correctly. The 547s are NLA, and were ~$2k@ when new. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Jesus, Ferrari of Beverly Hills just quoted me $2,400 to change (and mount and balance) 4 new tires. It appears that the Conti’s retail for under $800 a set (?!) Am I missing something ?
Tire Rack offers free shipping to the installer of your choice. I pay ~$175 to have the old tires removed and disposed of and to have the new tires mounted and balanced.
You are missing getting tire raped by Beverly Hills!! New set of Michelin PS4S, mounted, balanced, 4 wheel alignment, $1300. That is today's pricing. It is being done right now. I'll post a pick in the next couple of weeks of the HREs with the new Michelins on them. That is an unconscionable price quote you were given. Hell, even given the cost of the HREs, I'd still come in under that quote.
Yea I wrote back, there must be some misunderstanding. It seems in between being short sighted, just stupid or a he is a new person. Service and Customer retention (1 year, over 2 year.....and the real $ is over 3 year). This is what we OEM’s stress constantly to dealer networks for absorption and long term operational purposes. The best dealers have good (Service) customer service and great fixed first repair scores. You can weather any storm as long as you are profitable in fixed ops. Get your fixed operations profitable long term, get it to cover +/- 67% percent of your overall operating (including variable) cost. Tires are low margin for all players and nobody is supposed to make money on tires unless that is your only and last best play. Getting the tires OFF the car and completing a proper inspection every year builds a regular customer and MAKES A TON OF MONEY. it was a huge flag. Plus their seat “repair“ did not work and I have to go back anyway.
You’re forgetting that proper installation requires that the tires be inflated with the right Ferrari-approved air... you wouldn’t want just any old air in your Ferrari’s tires, now would you?!? That special hot air is worth at least $1K! Ruben
That place sucks ! you can go to Western Tire in Burbank they have mounted tires on my cars for years including my 550 ask for Brian ... 801 S. Victory Blvd. Burbank, CA 91502 Phone: (818) 842-1103 Tire Rack can ship to them or you can ask Brian for a price including having them mounted and balanced
I bought the 456M originally with Michelin SP4 and replaced those with Bridgestone. Not the best choice....., now more recently replaced them by Pirelli . Just brilliant! Roadnoise is lower compared to the Bridgestone and high speed stability feels better. Best regards, Jan
