Whoa mate that is a really nice gesture, and probably quicker and easier to get to than Silverstone for me. However maybe its better to see how it pans out, maybe it can be at least contained, it'd be a great shame if you have to pull the trigger on it. However I do share your sentiments. Thanks mate.
6 Corona infections now in NL. Zandvoort drone shots update 28/2/2020. The track/asphalt is finally done. The rest of the circuit/paddock not yet. 2 months left to finish it all.
A week later and now it's 128. Overtaking Australia, Vietnam and Bahrain, from being season opener to possibly being cancelled. Image Unavailable, Please Login
On the official map they even show over 250 now. I have to say, I wouldn't mind if it gets cancelled as I might get my $ back for the ticket. On a somewhat related topic: This year the Netherlands also host the Eurovision song contest (2 weeks after the F1 GP). I suppose that event would be also a no-show, which quite frankly would upset me more than a F1 race.
They would perhaps be better off postponing the whole circus until at least August when the summer break starts then take it from there if conditions improve.
Looks like not buying my tix two weeks ago was the right thing to do. I wish everyone good health and safety during these times. They should just cancel the whole season. Would be economic ruin for some but its for the greater good at this time.
Season start now in Bahrain. No China, no Australia and likely no Vietnam GP. Still wondering whether the Dutch GP will actually take place. I doubt it.
Mclaren can't attend Bahrain so they might boycott that race too. They should cancel all the races up to Monaco or Monza.
Monaco starting to get Corona also. Doubt that race will happen at current rate. IF a cure is found AND trialled in time, we *may* see some races past summer break. I've got a quicker cure.... Dust off the car from say 1995, each team can operate with minimal staff (6 per car and a driver). We see some races with cool cars making nice noises, corona risk is minimal. No need to thank me.
It looks more and more like that now. Baku the season opener. Who would have thought? I thought my OP was a bit out there. But no.
If the season cannot start before June, as some expect, or is cancelled altogether, there will be huge economic fallouts for F1 Only the best funded teams can survive a sabatical year, and even then, some of the big players may reconsider coming back in 2021. This pandemic will put several countries on war footing with industry lockdown, borders closure, etc ... and their economy redirected just fighting the virus.
Famine will cause the next war? I guess the F! teams will have to dust down their scalextric kits and play.........at least SF will win the WDC & WCC championship, so there is hope on the horizon
Rumours in the press that FIA will call of the Dutch F1 beginning of next week, so we are then looking at Spain or Monaco. My money is on Monaco! But who knows.
I have no faith in this plan. The over reaction to the virus, incompetent and unpredictable government responses etc. Why bother for the year. They could have raced in Australia had they planned on no fans to begin with. In fact for any season this year it must not have fans if they even race at all. Sorry Ross.......I think your own words limit your options........... Brawn admitted that F1, like many other sports, are now in "unchartered territory", but added: "I'm pretty optimistic that we can have a good 17-18 race championship or more. "I think we can squeeze them in. But it depends on when the season will start." https://www.skysports.com/f1/news/12433/11957286/ross-brawn-on-f1s-plans-for-2020-calendar-including-august-races
There's no indication yet if the season will even go on, to be honest. First Italy, and now Spain. I honestly don't think the EURO 2020 will also go on this year. Of course, unless a vaccine is found.
My problem is, What I am supposed to do with my spare time now? Following F1 (and motor racing in general) on TV, websites, forums and magazines is my main hobby.
I can relate. I have no idea what to do on weekends too. Just read more, watch more movies, and perhaps workout more.
Yes, same with Singapore. No fatalities. But we are being asked to work from home, etc. Public gatherings above 50 people isn't encouraged. They say the weather here, the hot weather, makes it harder for the virus to survive. No idea if it's true.
