Does anyone repair 599 tail lights?
I had the warning ‘bulb out’ on the dash and couldn’t get the light repaired. I had to buy a new one. In fact I bought 2. I have a good left hand light if that’s the one that’s out.
Just paid 1k usd for my left rear dealer replacement. It was on most of the time but sometimes it turns off for 10-15 mins. Very common among 599/430/458. Is not the led, is the ic controlling it. At least I found a new use of the broken light lol Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Send it to one of the instrument cluster repair shops. I would bet that they will be able to fix whatever has gone wrong with the control board. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I changed one side and a week later the other went...the resistance of the led increases and triggers the bulb warning..
Unlikely. LEDs don't really have a resistance, they are a constant voltage device (voltage doesn't change across a wide current range). There is a resistor in series with an LED that limits the current so that the LED doesn't break down. It is far more likely that the voltage regulator is failing or the resistor is failing. Based on how the display fails, I am guessing voltage regulator.
All the leds worked. I only got the bulb message while releasing the brake pedal. And only if it's cold outside. If i put some temperature in the light unit there is no problem. Surely a resistance problem
Yes, it could be resistance. It is not the 'resistance' of an LED. If the LED works, it is dropping about 1.5V no matter how much current you put through the device. It will get hot and it can burn out but it doesn't dim significantly and it doesn't change resistance. It is some other part of the circuit.
