Thanx for posting the link Tony. As with quite a number of us here,I recognise/know quite a few of those cars/owners. What a great turnout.
The purpose is to improve cooling. This could have been achieved without drilling holes in the bumper and bonnet. The rear scoops are "racey", so they're OK!
Bummer,at least you got the weekend racing though. Think that may have exacerbated what you have there ^^^^^?
After a little internet research, I'm going to try a Nulon sealer. If the leak doesn't stop, it's tear-down time.
btw the DFX doesn't have a head gasket as such, more like a steel shim. The oil and water ways are sealed by o-rings and it doesn't take much overheating to melt the outboard ones on the exhaust side of the heads.
A mystery solved... I couldn't work out why the car snapped on me in turn 4 in the last race and was jammed in 2nd gear when I tried to get going again. Took the rear cover off today, found the input shaft nut hanging off, only the cover was keeping it on the shaft. This meant that the shaft could move back and forth by about a quarter of an inch, enough to engage 2 gears at once. Sure enough, when I pulled the cluster out, there was damage on the face of 2nd gear, where it had jammed with 1st gear on the input shaft. So when I downshifted to 2nd for the corner, two gears engaged and the gearbox locked up and around I went. I made sure the nut was fuchsing tight when I put it back together Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
He's told you once if not several times....................don't call him Shirley... But yep you'd have thought so!
