Hi guys i am currently eyeing on a 599gtb . its a 2008 however it comes with a carbon roof. Now i tried to do some research however i cant find anything on this as being offered as a factory option. the closest i can find is a novitec aftermarket parts and would like to check if this is true that carbon roof wasnt a factory option in 2008 and its some mod thats done afterwards

Aftermarket for sure. Good bargaining point if you like the top and 599.

no it's a replacement. and i think i am walking away from this deal cuz the car history is not so transparent. not really sure why the previous owner replaced the roof. as i assume the work in changing the roof can be quite extensive? and if not done right, it might damage the integrity of the frame?

That CF is undoubtedly just laid over the aluminum roof.

Affirmative, the CF is just fitted over the aluminum so no crash integrity is lost and the CF is not load bearing.
