Hey guys! I just finalized the deal on my first Ferrari today. It took me awhile to zero in on which model I wanted, but I decided that a gated 360 was the sweet spot for me as far as looks, drivability, etc. I've been lurking here for like 15 years and have learned a ton just by reading the different perspectives on various subjects.

I was going to buy a red/tan 360 on BaT, but Cauley Ferrari had a very nice Red/black 360 Spyder and they hit the number I needed them to hit for me to forgo bidding on the other car, so we finalized the deal today.

Thank you all for taking the time to answer my questions and being willing to offer constructive advice.

Cauley Ferrari was AMAZING by the way. Even though it was a used car, they really rolled out the red carpet for me and made it a special experience. I couldn't have asked for better treatment than what I was shown all day today!

Very nice looking. I had a 360 6-speed, you're going to love shifting manually - it's the only way to "fly"! :)

Were you only looking at spiders or did you consider coupes as well? I'm starting my search and I've been leaning toward a spider as I miss my old Alfa spider quite a bit...

If I was a single guy, I'd have probably been shopping hardtops as they're stiffer you don't have the complexity of the convertible top, and can typically be bought cheaper. My wife's only request was a convertible, so I thought it might add to her being able to enjoy the car in some capacity as well. Just to warn you, they are a little bit fragile. They have some elastic straps that get weak with age and when they do, the center bar can sometimes get out of position and bind with the other parts of the frame which can crack the frame. It is $$$$ to replace the frame, but I have run across threads where people had them successfully welded. One car I went and looked at that was on bring a trailer looked great overall, but I found a crack in the forward convertible top frame. Get the spyder if that's what you want, but make sure you cycle it a few times to make sure it works properly and bring a flashlight and look over the top when it's in mid cycle to check the frame for cracks.

    Congratulations!

FYI from the spiders that I've had exposure to.. it's that the top needs to be working as the computer expects it to WHEN it expects it to in the proper sequence. With the elastic straps and more importantly the hydraulics, when there is wear and you get suboptimal hydraulic push from wear in the cylinders, it throws the sequence out of whack and problems closing. From what I've seen it usually means getting the hydraulics rebuilt. Nobody wants to do it cause expensive.. but that's usually the issue from what I've seen.
