Dustman I bought this one (18k miles) for mid 150s then spent 15K on it reconditioning the interior, the paint, ceramic coating it and clear bra. Sometimes its better to find one that's been healthily used and then bring it up to your cosmetic requirements.

Mine looks better than a lot of the 3k 260K examples out there now. For a lot less.....

    Hey man thats "my" car.
Or supposed to be at one time.
That one that was at Ferrari Scottsdale (IIRC) a couple of years ago.
Put up for sale and gone the same week. I was the first caller.
But I already had a deposit on a car that had Carfax issues that were being sorted out. That deal fell through.
Then watched the market climb through the roof.
The whole scenario punched me in the gut and I dropped out of the CS hunt for a couple of years.

Back down to earth now and so am looking again.

IMO that was one of the best values in a CS at that sale and then the one you got it for recently.
    Nice car
    Congrats.

I thought the same thing. Reasonable discount for the story/history, but the benefit of a refreshed engine on a car with some miles that can be driven.

Exhaust was aftermarket but they pop up for a few grand from time to time so not a deal breaker. New owner can drive it, enjoy it, and sort it out over time. Good deal.

i was seriously considering buying this car, but only in the bargain basement price range.
i went to see it, heard it, sat in it, and could have driven it, but didnt because i did not think it would go for cheap enough and i was right.

i want a 'stories' car, that i can drive with impunity. this is kind of neither fish nor fowl.
it is a stories car, but the changes can be seen as positive, or, when you go to sell it next time, it will be a negative...you never know.

i do know that the previous owner took a bath on this one - altho he might not care.

I was top bidder for almost a week at 123K and change.
That would have been a no-brainer price or even to 135K.
Over that some deep contemplation involved.
Kinda of glad to see it climb over 140 as that decision was made by someone else.

Still waiting for some land to close that should have closed a week ago.
If it had I might have bought me a CS.
Thank Gawd the auction didnt end on a Fri or Sat night after a few Scotchs !
"Honey guess what WE bought ?"

There are a couple cars that fit your ask currently for sale. Wrecked but fixed CS for $129k and fully repainted one for ~$150k.

I guess I outbid you as I tossed a $135k bid on it. I’ve already got one, but at that price I’d have two.

That ex-Carolla car is interesting too as the hit didn’t look too bad and whoever bought it removed that stupid snorkel. It’s a hell of a driver for $129k.

Joe... agree, but id be worried about alot of other things, Such as driveline, trans, etc. With the extra HP the turbo put out none of the components were designed to handle that kind of power..

exactly...that's why I asked earlier in the thread if anyone knew if the engine was replaced *after* the turbo was removed or prior to it being installed. I would not want a finely/highly tuned 8500-rpm italian powerplant that had a forced induction run on it that was designed by somebody in the after-market as a one-off (and that's not even getting to the extra power impact on downstream bits like the transmission, etc as you point out). And certainly not to pay anywhere near market value for a limited run car like the CS. Not me. But, obviously someone else was either okay with that or ignorant of some details about their purchase.

I suppose I was looking at the prior turbo output as a positive in that the driveline had been extensively tested and didn’t break under pressure so it should be all good for the vigors of backroad driving. :D

I understood the damage happened with the turbo setup, it was removed and engine rebuilt at that time, and it remained normally aspirated after the rebuild. For me $135k made sense all things considered. At $155k, not so much. Still, I hope the new owner enjoys it and drives it in good health.
