To be clear this is VIN 1261, the badge number would be different.

This is the ex-Scott Tucker car, auctioned with a few others of his seized by the government.

It appears the U.S. government was nice enough to conduct some scheduled servicing on this Carrera GT while in their care:

Services Since Government Custody, Completed July 2018
4 Years Porsche Service - View Service Record
    (4) New Michelin Pilot Super Sport Tires 265/35R19 & 335/30R20

You can turn on an option on Hammer Price to show the buyer's fee included - mine says $786,000 for this car.

Good number, consistent with the private market in terms of avg. expectation for this color combination and mileage.

    The long way home
Since the auction houses have tweaked their commission structures to a higher % on the first $250k, the sale prices are a little higher than the mental math of simply adding 10%...

I am in the market for a GT Silver/Ascot or possible the right GT Silver/Black CGT. Not a garage queen... 5k-10k miles... would even do 10-20k miles for a well kept car that is properly sorted. Thanks

Posted this on Rennlist due to some price debate there, wanted to share here as well.

To summarize the Scottsdale 2020 weekend:

WP0CA29805L001301 - $786k after auction fees @ RM Sotheby's. Black / Dark Grey. '05 with 2,500 miles. Ex-Tony Kanaan car, most recently living in Canada.

    WP0CA29864L001091 - $775k after auction fees @ Gooding. Black / Dark Grey. '04 with 4,700 miles.

The above results inclusive of buyer's fee IMO are consistent with the current private market. Neither of the above cars were reported to be "excellent" examples based on those I spoke to who saw them in person - truly excellent cars probably would have cracked $800k. Regardless, the consistency of the CGT is a testament to their appeal versus many other modern supercars which are seeing fairly large price fluctuations in recent memory.

    Upcoming in February:

WP0CA29835L001261 - Black / Dark Grey. '05 with 3,400 miles. Coming up at US Treasury Dept. Public Auction. Ex-Scott Tucker car, seized by govt. Apparently serviced while under government custody in July 2018 with a "4 year Porsche service," 4 new tires, new battery, and alignment. Missing many of its original accessories - I would imagine collecting those items probably wasn't of the greatest concern when the car was removed from Mr. Tucker's premises.

Sterling thoughts on what the US Treasury CGT might go for? Will all the cars sell for market or at a discount since not a lot of vetting will be allowed by the feds.

It seems there will be auction preview days, which will allow potential buyers to look over the car in a general sense. No better or worse than what any other auction offers, really.

The only outwardly obvious thing that may affect the price on this one versus the others above is the fact that it is a government seizure car, and that story will always follow this VIN around going forward - in reality it doesn't really matter if the car is nice, but it's going to be a turn-off for many.

Meanwhile here is one of the few truly nice photos of the Carrera GT "recommissioned" by Porsche Classic. It sounds like others may be in the works

Some more of the original GTZ with the official description from Zagato's website:

"Porsche Carrera GTZ 2012: In 2013, a passionate Swiss Porsche collector, former racing driver, commissioned the Zagato Atelier to build a carbon fibre body for his Carrera GT, following the classic approach, very trendy between the 40s and the 60s, when special bodyworks were prepared with the purpose of racing or participating in elegance contests. Being the GTZ a tribute to the German manufacturer and since its technical specifications hadn't been altered, the work of the designer intended to further improve the airflow around the body, remoulding the rear with the typical shape of a Zagato coupé, as it was done in the 50s with the successful models based on the 356 Carrera."

One of the most beautiful (if not the only one) Carrera GTs around the world. I really love it!

    Awesome, thank you for sharing.

Surprised the Cobalt Blue example is up for sale, the current owner seems to really cherish it and has driven it quite a bit during his tenure as far as I can tell.
