Sometimes it works in reverse. I love the 348, but general consensus is that the 355 (the "improvement") is a much better car. It's a tough call. I'm hoping to be in the market for a 458/488 in the next twelve months (gunna), and although my heart says 458, my head says 488. If they're the same price (which they are), it's hard to make a solid argument for the 458 apart from it being the last N/A V8, so might be a better investment. I don't like buying cars based on possible re-sale value. I'd rather just buy what I want to own and drive.
I’d have either, I sat in a 488 on the weekend and they’re a pretty cool thing, big on the outside and snug in the cockpit, amazing car, best of luck with it Steve, at a stretch I recon the F12 would be worth a punt, such an incredible sight in the flesh and what an engine ( Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Cheers, Adrian, and I agree with you re F12. I actually think it's a nicer looking car than the 812. When I turn 90, hopefully they'll be cheap enough for me to afford one.
Love the F12 they sound other worldly through the tunnels Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
and if you drove a 458 and a 488, you'd take the 458 in a heartbeat. Both have great handling and brakes, plus the same interior, complete with cheap plastic and poor quality switchgear. F12 and 812 also have horrible switchgear, I don't know how they get away with it. VW's have better interiors. The 488 has gobs of torque, but it has an artificial and (to my ear) unpleasant soundtrack. The 458 sounds wonderful and has more performance than you'll ever need.
It’s a beast, we had this leviathan out on Sunday for a lunch drive up the hill and just, wow!!,even my wife was taken back and she normally shrugs her shoulders Can’t wait to get one Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app

If it's just the sound, shorely that can be fixed by fitting a decent exhaust? I was standing on the main straight at The Bend on a recent track day as a 458 Speciale and a couple of 488s went past flat out, and I have to say I thought the 488s sounded pretty damn good. Certainly it wasn't night and day between them and the 458 sound-wise. Maybe pootling around town is a different story, though? The issue is that for the same money, I'll be looking at either a 10 year old car, or a three year old car. Both of which, as you say, are otherwise very very similar.
