I heared there is coming a new rule in the US that require the use of a torque meter during intercourse.. For the professional that is.
well I am in New Orleans for the MardiGras just left Atlanta this morning in the 575 put around 500 miles on the car ran like a top cigarette light is inop most likely a fuse will trouble shoot it tomorrow remove the passenger kick panel nice drive no leaks with my recent oil change that I did my self (2nd one) using no torque wrench (don't go there ok) so what is it with Ferrari leaches? you know the guys who run up on you with their cars(down here its pickup trucks) at speed because they have never seen a Ferrari? I mean really and then they ride very close to you like they are in a NECKAR RACE ( something they are used to seeing on TV) I mean that's all I need for a joker to loose a tire at 80 plus knots and loose control and hit me I get so tired of this on the interstates and my car is black almost stealth heaven help you guys with the yellow or red ones you have a hit me sign on your car anyway looking forward to a good time in the Big Easy going to put the improved brake pads on the car this spring and flush the brake fluid and coolant and have the transmission and rear end fluid done that's the only thing I don't like about this car with my 512 TR I could do all of the transmission stuff not this thing oh well gotta go see a parade or too look for the return trip report until then guys car will break 40K miles on the return run
Clyde- Use a turkey baster and remove and replace about half the F1 fluid every year. Will keep everything fresh until she gets her every three year F1 fluid change, bleed, etc. Transaxle fluid you can change yourself. Not really a big deal on that. Use a hose to get the fluid in the fill hole.
I believe the following items are on the same fuse, so no need to remove the kick panel to check the fuse is ok: Luggage compartment light Dome light Trunk release OBD2 port. Sometimes the clips at the bottom of holder needed adjusting. It took me 4 or 5 tries to get mine to work.
removed the kick panel fuse ok did see your post until this afternoon had a rum front come through last night, remember I am in new Orleans for Mardi Gras this is a used car 6 owners prior to me upon inspection of the cigarette lighter box assembly you can see where it has been removed previously there is a small light that should be on when it has power, its not on so I know there is no power to the box so I need to remove this assembly and see what's going on behind it the 2 screws that hold it in are gone already so I know its been taken out at least once! any tips on how to remove the assembly? the ash tray pops out but I can't figure out how to pull the complete unit out any ideas out there?
yea I hear ya I like to give my local dealer some business besides I have the service manual and you have to get this right you can't overfill it so I say its cheap insurance to have the dealer do it we have a great relationship and while he is there he can check the clutch usage etc he told me you never get all of it out and as much as I drive the car getting it done every 15K miles will go a long way to making sure the fluid is always fresh so I will run it by him in April and have it done
If you go travel back though Mobile on Tuesday or Wednesday and have time, I would like to see the 575. (Can't decide between a Maranello or 599). My son lives in Atlanta (Brookhaven), so hope to see you there as well if it does not work out. Give me a call 251 490-4446 BJ
call me anytime in the Atlanta 678 6419932 I will be leaving New Orleans on wed/thurs not going through Mobile sorry I looked at the 599 and the 612 drove both the maintenance on the 575 is the cheapest overall and does the job having done a belt service on a 612(you have to move the steering rack, ugh) you will find the 575 a better car overall unless you're in to horsepower the 599 is overkill in my opinion the 575 has plenty of that and doesn't have the ridiculous expensive carbon brake rotors
Is it moving at all? The parts manual only shows 2 screws, so the only thing still holding it in would be perhaps friction or a too short wiring loom. The light for the cigar lighter uses a separate power source, but it comes in on the same connector.
yes its real tight and the 2 screws are already gone from a previous repair I guess I think I just need to get a butter knife down their and pry the thing out since I agree with you nothing is holding it in I will tackle this when I get home thanks for looking it up on the parts manual people don't realize how great a source that is when it comes to working on these cars I can tell you how many times the parts manual has solved an issue when it came to working on the cars
My apologies, Clyde... I'm getting my cars mixed up again. See the other thread for proper removal instructions. I was looking at the 550 parts and wiring diagrams.
Tire pressure monitors are off by around 5 psi on my car Car shows 29 when it’s really 25 I check them against my race tire gauge which I used when I raced bikes So beware On the road this weekend to Mississippi
Just got back from MS Car went over 41k This car loves 100mph runs I was on I-20 in MS heading out of Alabama and I let her run Car was made for this Home now Have to replace the brake pads and coolant this spring Until then guys Get out and drive it Your paying for it either way and it ain’t going up in value Later
100? I would say more like 130. At 160-170 it just flies at cruising altitude with almost zero throttle. I promise you. Call Trump and explain him that the speed limits were made for the old Buicks and Caddies of the 70-ies and that America now need a new speed limit for the Autobahns for prosperous people who need speed and enjoyment to motivate for more business and more money.
just did a brake job on the car did a new post on this replaced the pads with the porterfeild pads took some pictures of the job if someone wants them I will post them to early to tell the difference but I felt my 512 TR had better brakes than this car that's it for now
Just had the transaxle and F-1 gear box fluid R&R done Learned a lot from the tech The car at 26k had a new clutch installed When they checked it it showed clutch usage 14% on the SD-2 I am good with that You get the most wear from hard takeoffs which I don’t do I drive the car as a 3 pedal I’ve never replaced a clutch on a Ferrari never Let’s see what this one does Car has 41 on it now My goal 50k by Christmas Did a run in the Alabama foothills recently It handles well But nothing like my 512 TR and it has 110K on it That’s it for now Stay safe
You're living the dream Clyde, enjoy! Hit up Steve J and I next time you are in Seattle. I got rid of the sh*tbox 308 (and F355 spider you saw last time) and have a 430 Scuderia now
Hi Clarence Romero. Always good to read about your driving. That’s what these cars do best. Do you have any pictures of your 512TR? I really like that model! I am not on the lazy side these days either. I just went from Nice to Stockholm two weeks ago. It was a great trip without much traffic. Did 1.800 kms. the first day, and 650 the next one. It was good to have a rest afterwards, but these cars drive so well, it is hard to give up and park it. You just want to drive more and more..... had a good time in Germany, and it is my favourite hobby... The 550 is king of the road. And flies fast. Stay safe Image Unavailable, Please Login
