The spare tire in my '85 QV just rests in the front tub. I've seen pictures of a leather strap that secures it, but that appears to be a UK only way of doing it.

I can't seem to find good pictures online of how or what secures the spare tire. Any advice?

    Thanks!

I could be wrong as mine just sits there too but I think the tow hook is suppose to bolt it in. Off center to drivers side should be a threaded hole.

The parts source I used for the US QV Cab doesn't show a tie-down strap or a bolt. But if you have this mounting hardware then a strap was used.

My '83 QV Cab has a little captured metric nut box - the nut never there. It appears the tow eyebolt originally was affixed to the captured nut through the spare tire rim.

My "fix" was to employ a leather belt as shown in picture.
