I’ve struggled for years to find an effective way to save an unfinished half-bottle of wine for a day or two. And 375ml demi-bottles aren’t very practical...very limited choices and relatively high cost per ounce.

I’ve tried, refrigeration, vacuum pumps, etc. but nothing worked well until my wife bought me a “Savino” wine carafe ($50). The secret is the plastic/silicone disk that floats atop the wine, shielding it from harmful oxygen. The disk automatically pivots out of the way when you pour another glass...very clever.

After using it on several bottles I can confidently state that the Savino performs admirably...my life just got a little bit better!

This is really smart and clever. I have to buy one and test it. What a great gift idea for wine lovers, too.

Repour has received some good review. I just refrigerate the bottle and finish the next night. Most wines don't lose too much. The younger wines improve and aged wines get finished in an evening.

Interesting. Something in the stopper is scavenging the oxygen. Chemistry major in me wonders what's doing the scavenging?

Turn to rust in the stopper?
Hopefully, you came up with a million dollar invention being a chemist.
I read the MSDS labels on products that are expensive and make my own compounds The person that low pressure washes my house got burned badly by not paying attention to what he was mixing. The compounds are clearly marked now.

Sorry for thread drift. For wine, I have a Pungo. http://www.pungo.us
I use it for mags. Pour about 750ml into a decanter and keep the bottle with pungo in it in the fridge. A few weeks later, we finish the mag.
