I was chatting Maserati at retromobile with this German enthusiast who has a small dealership and lo and behold he has a C4 as well, looks great complete with Scottish plaid seats:)
I have zero connection with this car and do not know the chassis number.

Is their mouse hair not black/black? Does it look like original stuff? Pattern and gray shade rather than black?
    Thanks

Just FYI: GTC/4 with Netherlands mousehair procured and installed in 2012. First photo is new mousehair compared to old (bald mouse). Second photo is finished product. Note: different cameras, different settings, different lighting and different angles = different colors in photos. I was very satisfied with the result, but can't claim to have compared it to a proper reference.

Looks pretty good, but still more black than any originals. The original stuff was never full black, but faded pretty fast fairly quickly if out in sun very much. The texture is truly correct in it and looks good.
Look at the silver car dash I bought posted earlier in this thread that is a 3600 mile original, stored inside most of its life, faded slightly but not the very black color one gets in new material. And I looked around at all material options and all vendors said their new material does not fade like original, so will stay very black for quite sometime I think? All samples I got when looking for a proper material seemed too black to me.
No choices but to find what you did as it is the best option and go with it, only original once!

This year, I have had the interior restored. Original leather cleaned and repaired where necessary. We found two mouse-homes in the rear seat! All foam renewed in the seats. Mousehair dash had discoloured and hairless... This was replaced with deep black new original material. It looks fantastic now.

If the mouse still has it's full head of hair but has gone grey or discoulered there is a product that can take it back to the original colour. It fantastic as long as the fur is in good condition. You need to be very careful as it will permanently dye the carpets, headliner and leather as well.

My 365 GTC4 is very original, was stored for years before I bought it, covered, inside, etc. Just about to turn 4000 original miles. My dash is like new, but of course like all is grey, not black. Want to keep it original, so doubt dying it would be wise?
Think best to keep it untouched by any dye or aftermarket product?

Inside glove box is about the same color as dash, maybe even slightly lighter.

John - don't touch it with anything other than a light brush. Yours is original and correct. The newer stuff is darker and shows a different texture.

Diggin' the Marvin Gaye 8-tracks. Those look original as well. What's the "tiger stripe" look on the center console and dash lid?

Those 8 tracks were in the car when I bought it, shows how long it had sat and not turned a wheel. Had 3600 miles on it then. But all mechanicals had been rebuilt from sitting so long.

Not a bad replica of mouse hair, pretty accurate repro.. Assume you know the console is also supposed to be mouse hair, not leather covered.

Mouse hair looks great, key is the underlining pattern. And looks good. I had my console covered in leather vs mouse hair when I redid it too many years ago because of wear issues... yours will look good for 20 yrs.. no need to ever touch the dash...on the maintenance side..
